write a nonfiction book

The marriage equality book is too topical for me to keep up at this point in American history. I need to wait (and I am waiting) until I can write a decent historical perspective.

My goals in this list are roughly in order of importance, and I went into my MA/MFA program with the assumption that I would be writing poetry, which is why “write a book of poetry” is higher up on this list. I have, however, ended up writing a memoir of college. It’s certainly nonfiction, and after January, I’ll have graduated with an MFA and will hopefully have a manuscript ready for (or almost ready for) publication.

HAH! Publication! laugh We’ll see.

I have a few ideas that I’d like to turn into full-length non-fiction books.

I love to read. I do public speaking so you’d think it would be easy to write, right? hahhaha!

My life is so strange that no one would think it a credible memoir. And perhaps we aren’t that interesting to others as we are to ourselves?

My goal is to actually pick one of the subjects in my head, and just go with it. I hope it works. Maybe then I can cancel my other goal of figuring out what to do with the rest of my life.

one of the best photographers in the country with a well stocked archive of images has expressed interest in working with me a for book. This would be a good chance. I feel I often procrastinate waiting to do the ideal project. But then later you find out that there is no ideal. Its just what you make of the situation.

I want to write a synopsis soon.

so I haven’t gone too far with the actual writing of the book. I am on board a ship giving some lectures on exactly the topic I want to be writing. I want to use this opportunity to determine the structure for the book and to decide on the number of words per section/chapter, etc.

I haven’t made any progress on this since my last entry. Am going on a cruise tomorrow where I will be giving some talks to the passengers. Hoping to work on the book while there.

I have wanted to write a non-fiction book for some years now and have even begun to do so a couple of times. I have written and published a novel once and a translation of a novel, but never a book in English, and have never got round to writing a non-fiction book.

I want to go at it step by step.

Got a book about the history of Psychedelic Rock (as I want to write about A Band). Not to the band yet, but the Pink Floyd chapters were great.

One person did write some of the book I want to write. So I’m ordering his book and going to read it and see how far into it he got, and what I should cover instead.

Have gather enough materials for my book. So far finished writing preface and introduction. Started writing chapter 1 today.
