This is what I do to cut my hair, it comes out perfect http://howtohacklife101.blogspot.com/2012/02/how-to-cut-your-own-hair.html 2 years ago
It all started when I cut my own bangs for a costume. They turned out alright, so I decided to take the next step. My aunt used to cut my hair, so I just kind of copied what I remembered her doing. All I need is a pair of scissors, and preferably two mirrors. I keep my hair really short, and only once did I cut it oddly. My motto is “it’ll grow back”, which, I think is a necessary mindset to have when cutting your own hair. Now that I’ve gotten the hang of it, I have actually played around with different styles. I actually really enjoy the whole process, and I super enjoy not spending the money. 2 years ago
I’ve cut my hair before and totally not worth it. Looked totally bad. Just leaving it to the professionals or just letting it grow out. Pulling hair back and up is not a bad thing. 2 years ago
Prices to get just simple cuts over here are staggering. Erik has cut my hair a few times (just a few inches at a time, nothing drastic) to get rid of split ends, but I’d like to do it myself and on a permanent basis. I’ve been watching lots of tutorials on how to do it, and I will cut my hair very soon :) 2 years ago
GONNA TRY THIS LATER ON TODAY. I HAVE A FULL HEAD OF HAIR BUT DON’T REALLY SEE THE POINT ANYMORE. FIGURE I’LL SAVE MONEY AND TIME IF I JUST START SHAVING IT MYSELF…CANT BE THAT DIFFICULT CAN IT? MAYBE ILL PUT A COOL DESIGN IN THE SIDE OF MY HEAD LIKE A LIGHTING BOLT HAHA3 years ago
So, I did it! Woot woot. I even gave myself layers! All my split ends are gone and it’s so soft again. I’m super happy with the results and now… I kinda want to do it again!! 3 years ago
I’m pretty spontaneous and not too picky about how I look, and to top it off i really hate spending money. So as soon as I was old enough to get away with it(about 16) I started cutting my own hair. Not to say that it looks great every time, but it’s a heck of a lot cheaper than going to a salon and it’s fun! And i feel super indie when I get to tell people that I cut and color my own hair :) 4 years ago
This isn’t something that I had never done before, cutting my own hair. Actually, I have been cutting my own hair since I was a teenager. Since I just did this a couple of days ago, I thought it might be fun to write about it…
I cut my own hair for several reasons. One is that going to a barber or salon is expensive. I was told an average haircut costs about $20 or $30. A second reason is that there’s not much that can be done with my hair. My hair doesn’t really move; if I let it grow out, it just becomes afro-like. Cutting my hair is really not more than just buzzing it. A third reason is that I only have myself to blame if I screw it up. I don’t have to be mad at anyone for poor or incompetent service. I have control over the outcome. A fourth reason is that I don’t either have to make small talk with the barber/stylist (I hate trying to make small talk) or sit awkwardly silent as they’re placing sharp tools near my head.
The only real challenge I’ve had in cutting my own hair is getting the back just right. I use two mirrors, and after years of practice, I think it’s not too bad (see the photo from my most recent haircut). A professional could probably do better, but for free I can’t complain… 4 years ago
