Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

One of my best friends has just returned from spending 6 months in Asia. We welcomed her back and went on a countryside pub crawl to some of the nearby villages. Had a lovely lunch and it was great to catch up with her. Very jealous of all the beautiful places she went, though!

Next week I’ll be staying in Bristol after work to see Sleeping Beauty, performed by Ellen Kent International. I’ve never watched a ballet before so I’m excited to see what it’s like.

I’ve spotted a good deal on a day trip to the London Eye so I would love to do that as well if I have the spare cash. 6 years ago

Haven’t been out and about much this month, but this weekend my boyfriend and I went for a walk to the village up past the beach. Not much there except for houses, a little boat yard and a field of super cute alpacas. Sadly the alpacas seem to have moved on and there were only a few massive sheep there. There’s a church and a big tower up on the hilltops nearby, we’ll wander up there when we’re feeling more energetic. 6 years ago

I started off the month with a long weekend in Paris. I’d been looking forward to this for a long time, and it was great. We spent hours walking around the city, everything is quite close to the river Seine, so we followed it along and stopped off at various places along the way.
Highlights were going up the Eiffel Tower at night time, seeing the Egyptian display at the Louvre and eating at Chez Clement on Champs Elysees.
Our hotel, the Eiffel Seine, was in the perfect location and was a lovely place to stay.

The only other place I went last month was to Bristol, for lots and lots of shopping :) 6 years ago
