I like the idea of a simple life with the necessities. I went through my closets last week and gave away 1/4 of my clothes. I just had crap I was keeping just in case I would need a certain color or style… I pictured women who were actually in need of clothes and it made putting things in a box much easier. Same with shoes. I put the books I didn’t want up for sale on half.com.
I would like to be able to move with ease. Get up and go. Without carrying crap I may need someday across the country. I’m trying to scan documents and receive my bills and statements online to get rid of the mountain of paper clutter that never ends.
Any more practical ideas? :)

Over the holiday time (Thanksgiving to New Year), I managed to clean out a lot of clothing from the dark recesses of my closet, and take a bundle of books to the library.
Granted, it was only 21 paperbacks, out of personal library that is over a thousand books, but it’s a start.

So before I just toss EVERYTHING I don’t want. I figure I’ll make some pocket change by doing a garage sale. Though it might be difficult to do this since I lack a garage…. Maybe I can go to a place that’s having a garage sale and set up shop between two homes that have piles of junk from their garage. ;)

So I’m coming closer to getting rid of more things in my life. It’s a on going slow process, but with each full trash can I have to take out, it makes me feel less burdened with “stuff.” I have waayyy more space now. It’s truly amazing how much stuff we accumulate over short amounts of time. Many of the things I’m tossing I haven’t even looked at for years. So the tossing becomes legit or I just end up feeling not as bad… One day I will be free …=_=

So I am moving sloooowly getting rid of things one by one. As much as I would love to just grab everything and toss it into a box and dump the box into the trash can…. I can’t do it! ;_; I’m so attached to many of my things…. But when I look in my room (which I think is starting to get smaller) I know it’s time for me to be liberated from my crap! Besides… getting rid of things means making space for new things? right? :p

making slight progress. i don’t know why this is difficult. I skimmed through some zen decluttering book the other day that said there’s a reason for you getting rid of something, it’s not a wrong decision, so don’t be afraid to let stuff go. (or someting along those lines.) honestly, it’s just embarrassing that this is a problem. self-help books on decluttering. i don’t want this to be an issue anymore.

huge release. when I moved to my apartment, I realized I’ve got tons of crap. Well, for the most part, I have too many things I don’t even use regularly, mind you some I haven’t use at all or used once. I gave the things I don’t like and don’t use anymore to my family and some to the Salvation Army. I still need to work on NOT accumulating more shit. I value sentimentality, that’s my problem.

where im living has a great thing, the free pile. Its a place where people put things they nolonger want but might be of some value to some people. its great to see how everything cycles around. whats even more cool is that the freepile is part of a network of aobut 20 freepiles so whats in there really does change and find an owner or atleast a temporary one. there’s one dress i’ve seen a bunch of people wear for costumes, kinda fun
