Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

FancynessHe's home

We’re home! I missed him so much, and I’m so glad to be home. 6 years ago

FancynessAbsence makes the heart grow even fonder

He’s on the plane!!! The days went pretty fast for me. Since I was so busy I didn’t miss him in the way he probably missed home but I did gain such an appreciation for having him in my life that if he were to ever be gone forever I may just crumble up and die. So husband please don’t ever leave, death or otherwise. We need you. 6 years ago

Fancynessstill loving the DH after 3 years

The other night I related that his parents wouldn’t make it out to see us like they said they would. (his mom asked me to tell him) Probably could’ve waited until he came home since he is so homesick but I don’t usually think those things are such a big deal. Anyhow I could tell he was pretty upset so I sent a long love letter (email) and today I got the most beautiful roses. I really love that man. 6 years ago

FancynessAdventures from Thailand

Last night when I called DH I could barely hear him after crazy music started up in the background. (He’s in Thailand) He was having drinks with his co-worker on in the hotel lounge so I told him to call me back later but not before I heard the MC say “Okay folks it’s time to get STARTED” then “Take your clothes off.” HUH? Anyhow turns out they were having a big foam party. Unfortunately for the husband there were more European men in speedos than women in bikinis. Ha ha ha. Though I may have to kick some Thai butt if his coffee lady keeps proposing ;) 6 years ago

Fancynessadventures in Thailand

I miss the DH but texting and phone calls have helped quite a bit. He was recounting his lunch today and I was so jealous. He saw a spitting fish and a woman walking two baby elephants on a leash. Right down the street. Can you imagine? Also he got a massage and told me the first thing he said to the lady was “Massage only.” Honestly I wouldn’t really care if he got himself a “happy ending,” but he would, so it just made me love him even more to know his loyalty to me and to this family. I did good marrying him. 6 years ago

Fancyness13 days to go

I’m not sure if I’m surviving staying with my mom or missing the husband. I’ll take a little of both. I couldn’t sleep at all last night because of all the dust. Okay so mom has been great. It’s her house that is not so great. At least I’ll be busy even if it is cleaning and organizing. Though I can’t complain about the organizing. I actually enjoy restoring things to order. 6 years ago
