It was easier racking up the miles walking to & from work, but now that my contract’s over it will be a new challenge to get myself up every day and continue to exercise.
I’ve been wearing my rainboots every day since December, for both my commute and daily shoe, and they are now about done so I’m researching new walking shoes. Any recommendations? 1 month ago

I’m ending the year with 325 miles to go. According to my calculations, I should be completing this goal around the end of March 2013 – same time as when my temp contract comes to an end.
So, lots of beginnings and endings. I like that. 4 months ago

1000 miles between mid June 2011, and mid March 2012. See here:

It took nine months. It has taken me almost exactly another nine months to walk 1000 more! I am currently at 1,968 miles since June of 2011. 968 miles since March of 2012. That’s an average of 115 miles per month in the last year and a half. Approximately 4 miles a day. Some weeks/days I know full well I do way more than that (like this past Saturday…) and some less. But that’s a good average! (Jeeze, I could have covered almost all of the A.T. by now!)
I had to estimate my summer mileage based on known distances between places I travelled too and from on a regular basis. I was so busy from May to early November that I often forgot my pedometer, and never got on here or the other site I calculate my mileage on to document anything. I suspect that I have actually underestimated, based on the few times midsummer I actually remembered my pedometer; the mileage was higher then I have given myself credit for here in the final tally toward 2000 miles. Oh well. That’s what I get for not remembering to clip it on daily! If I were to hazard a guess I’d say I’d be well over the 2000 mark by now, but hopefully this will spur me on to REMEMBER my pedometer every day….Still, this feels good. I’ll use the 1,968 calculation and celebrate 2000 when I reach it from there. It’s likely I’ll reach that this weekend if not before.
On to 2000!!! Yippee! 5 months ago

Today, after more than my usual number of trips back and forth across the office building, I decided to count my steps. If I choose the second stall into the loo, then it is exactly 100 steps from my desk to the loo. One way. I decided to tabulate my steps since I started working there (it was a surprisingly slow day with all the bosses out of the office) and was tickled to find I’ve actually accrued an additional 22 miles!
I’m now at 565 miles done, 435 miles to go.
At the rate I’m going, I should end the year at the 700 mile mark.6 months ago

Even with all my problems keeping my pedometer and replacing it when I lost it, I have logged the 1000 miles for this goal, in under 1 year.

gah – I didn’t realize I’d (accidentally) marked this goal as complete. I’d meant to tick off another one.
so, newly reactivated and mileage updated. I’m at 353 miles done with 647 miles to go. Think this is gonna be another 6 months til I’m done.

while hiking in Iceland. I certainly have a hard time holding onto pedometers, yet I really do walk more when I wear one. 9 months ago
