amandaperlMade it to useable!

Main pocket is on and velcroed, strap is on and adjustable. Still some details to do, but it’s likely to rain a lot tomorrow so I really wanted it to be functional. 6 months ago

amandaperlSignificant progress at UFO

got the inside D-rings installed, reflectors added, strap for the light put on, and pockets cut, binding put on, and velcro added. Need to sew velcro to bag, pockets to bag, finish net for water bottle, and put on handle. 6 months ago

amandaperlBinding done

Next up, pockets. 7 months ago

amandaperlVinylized!

The bag is fully covered in vinyl. Next up: reflectors. 7 months ago

amandaperlGetting down to the bottom of it

with the vinyl: probably 1 1/2 more panels to sew on, then on to binding, pockets, and reflectors. 7 months ago

amandaperlTwo more panels

of vinyl sewn on (not completely but they are attached to the bag). Need to finish one of those, add one to the front, one or two to the back, and fold it all up and sew the bottom. Right now the panels are just hanging down, they will cover the bottom but need some folding and sewing to do so. 7 months ago

amandaperlNext vinyl round: top half of bag

Oh dear, I sense a terrible pun coming when I finish the vinyl…
Anyways I have done the top half of the bag and I love it, it’s great. Only wish it were ready to use, as it’s going to go on raining. My old bag is really not up to the task; I am using a reusable grocery bag as slightly better than the old worn denim one that gets instantly soaked. 7 months ago

amandaperlStarted on the vinyl: flap complete

I’m sewing each piece directly to the lining, rather than assembling a bag exterior and sewing the lining in. This is easier to do and it will fit just right, though it does mean that the lining can’t be removed or replaced in one piece without completely remaking the bag.

I have also noticed that on my husband’s bag the weakest point is where the bag handles are attached. I am considering what I can do to strengthen that attachment point. (His also tears where the flap meets the edge, but his is designed differently so I’m less worried about that stress point). 7 months ago

amandaperlExpanded lining complete

with side flappies and the proper lining for the big flap, which I forgot before. There’re a lot of layers in a few places, but I think it’ll be all right. 7 months ago

amandaperlLining complete

It’s a simple shape, no pockets.
Next up: lay out vinyl for the outside and start to assemble it. 7 months ago
