julettaskeyTrying something new this year

M and I have the same tastes. When we go out for dinner we usually end up ordering the same thing or if we can’t decide it’s usually the same two things we are struggling to decide on. We order both and share.

We are both single ladies that have a hard time saving on groceries or waste food because we make too much for a given recipe. We figured we would get together over the weekend and make a few meals that will help us get through the week. We hope that this will help in wasting food, money and really hope that it will help us lose a few pounds.
The town we live isn’t geared for the foodies we would like to become to expand our tastes and knowledge. We figured we could make a trusted recipe we like along with something new. This weekend we are making the chicken tortellini soup and something else that will use up the chicken left over from the soup recipe. I am excited about this. 5 months ago

julettaskeyOk ok... I have learned my lesson

with Chinese food. I have my favorites, just like everyone else. I have my favorites from different places. Tonight, I stopped at my favorite place for hot and sour soup. I usually get their moo goo gai pan. I love their moo goo gai pan. I went in and thought just maybe I should have something different, change it up for once. Well… I am disappointed with my choice. Not that it was bad but because there wasn’t a variety of veggies and it was too sweet. Sigh. lesson learned. 6 months ago

julettaskeyLOL, another cooking mania night

it seems like I have cooked up some of what I cooked up that last time I wrote about it. Tonight was cook up those veggies that have been sitting there for a week. Cauliflower, roasted it alone, no breadcrumbs. The left over cheese tortellini, mushrooms, asparagus and onions. Whipped up some tacos for the boy. Also made some tuna salad for lunch this week. I ended up making up a taco potato with the taco meat for dinner. Yummy and easy 7 months ago

julettaskeya veggie night

I had some asparagus to cook up. I like it in the oven sprayed with a little olive oil and other seasonings. Then I say to myself, “we have mushrooms and onion too… why don’t you cook some of them up too. while they are cooking, I said to myself again, Self there are some cheese tortellini that would cook up nicely too and if you put them all together well, it would be quite tasty. That was dish one.

Dish two was the Gingery Pork Lettuce Wraps that I had made before but had changed out the pork with chicken. I found it more tastier.

Dish three ~ Garlic Roasted Cauliflower with Toasted Asiago Bread Crumbs. This will be made again!! Maybe just maybe, I will share. 7 months ago

julettaskeyNot bad...

my first attempt to make clam chowder. It was a little soupy. I like it a bit thicker. The taste was there and in the end only what matters. It’s a soup that will get better by the next few days. :) 8 months ago

julettaskeyNothing is better than a good breakfast

Had the last of the zucchini tots topped with 2 fried eggs and some bacon from the butcher. There is a big tasty difference between certain brand of bacon I had been buying and that from butcher. 8 months ago

julettaskeyNow that I am more up and about

That I am also home on medical leave, the need to cook more at home is even greater. I take this as a personal challenge to find yummy, no so fattening and that tastes wonderful along my taste-buds. Today’s creation is Gingery Pork Lettuce Wraps8 months ago
