Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

Lost WayfarerJUNE: Venus Transit

June 6, 2012

JUNE: Venus Transit

I would have loved to be next to the Cowboy and his father, while the planet Venus moved in front of the Sun, but I had to settle watching “once in a lifetime” event on a LIVE feed online.

It was a amazing to watch it creep across the the sun! Of course, the Cowboy texted me as he was watching it in his Dad’s Sun Scope while I was watching it LIVE on the internet.

It was awesome, and I learned a lot of things about Venus and space. It was still nice to share a moment with the Cowboy, regardless that we were miles apart.

It definitely a NEW and FULFILLING thing for June. It was a ONCE IN A LIFETIME event! 2 years ago

Lost WayfarerMAY: Super Moon and Coronas with Lime

May 9, 2012

MAY: Super Moon and Coronas with Lime

I was able to do TWO wonderful new things in one day. I tried Corona Extra with lime with the Cowboy’s friends in celebration of Cinco de Mayo. As well as gaze at the Super Moon in the telescope later that night.

It was AWESOME! It definately was NEW and fulfilling for me. It was so much fun doing both. 2 years ago

Lost WayfarerAPRIL: Gazing at the stars

April 23, 2012

On Saturday night, April 21, 2012, I gazed for the first time at the stars! The Cowboy hauled out his telescope and set it up so I could see Venus as well as any other stars that I could get into the view finder. Of course, I was always asking him “what is the name of is star and that star”. He didn’t know alot of them, but there was a couple he was able to point out to me so I could see them up close.

It was the most amazing thing I have ever done. It was a semi-cloudy night and it was very cold, but I look forward to looking at the stars and planets again once it gets warmer out.

Looking at the stars was a wonderful NEW and FULFILLING thing for me. I can’t wait to do it again! 2 years ago

Lost WayfarerAPRIL: A mini Bike Adventure on April 7, 2012

April 9, 2012

I drove up to Monroe, Michigan to see the Cowboy with my bike in the back seat. We were planning on riding bikes together, since he wasn’t going to have his girls that weekend.

We ended up going to Walmart late Friday night (as I drove up in the late evening) looking for bike tubes. We couldn’t find the right ones, so we decided to go to the bike shop in the morning. I was telling him about this cute Barbie bike that his youngest daughter would love. (A. LOOOOOOOVES Barbie) The Barbie bike has a little attachment where a child can have her Barbie ride a bike with her. A. would love that. It was very funny as were walking in, a couple were walking out with the exact bike! I asked them if I could show my guy the little barbie attachment. LOL.

Another Funny thing is that we were walking around the parking lot of Walmart looking for my car. We both thought we parked right of the entrance (face the store was you are walking in.) So as we walked out to the car, we were walking around looking for my car. We were laughing as we were trying to located it. I kind was getting worried after a minute or two of looking, and then we walked to the other side of the parking lot. We had a good laugh about it. It was lovely to know that the both of us can have alot of fun laughing even in situations like that.

The next morning we went to the bike shop and asked about 26×150 tire tubes. They had them and miraculously they were cheaper then they would have been at Walmart! Surprising, indeed!

We went back to the house, and the Cowboy showed me how to change my tubes on my bike. Then we journeyed to the gas station to fill the tires and back to the house to put them on my bike.

Since it would be safer to drive the bikes into town a bit(as the Cowboy lives by a major road that would be dangerous to ride a bike on)we put the bikes in his trunk and drove them to FoodTown parking Lot. We got them out and started riding around and even when to his friend, Jay’s house for a while.

We rode around a bit, but not too much, as it was just a short jaunt for the first bike ride of the year.

It was wonderful to ride a bike with a guy that I care so much about. I have never rode a bike with someone before in my adult like, and it was a NEW and FULFILLING experience for me. I can’t wait to do it again as the Spring season blooms into Summer.

I am always learning new things and having fun adventures when I am with the Cowboy.I am a very lucky woman to have such an adventurous man and especially one that enjoys teaching and showing me new things. 2 years ago
