August has blown past and left a sunny (so far) September in its place. We weathered much liquid: plumbing problems, water park accidents, busy aquariums, and ferry boat schedules, but the month – although it sped by – was full of fun and catching up.
We did nearly all the things I’d been hoping to do – spent as much time possible outside on adventures (both day and night), filled journals and cameras and minds with memories. We visited family and friends and explored the Sunshine Coast, watched stars fall all night, played fun new games, discovered new trails, swam in new pools, played in new parks, read new books, saw a movie in the field, took out the camping gear again, lit beautiful fires, polished off entertainment seasons, and had twilight wanders. We played in the sun and puddle-danced in a violent thunderstorm. Isak has a wonderful scrapbook/diary he’s been keeping to remember the summer of 2012.
We also got a lot done, progress rather than just maintenance: we dug into the garage and made a decent dent there, cleaned rooms, donated boxes of stuff, recycled carloads, upped our mobility (overhauled the car/tires, got a new stroller, fixed up the bike -some of us even learned to walk upright). I’ve bookcrossed a stack of books for the memorial project, I’ve even caught up somewhat on my entries (not as much as I’d like, but I’m trying) and school shopping was completed last week.
I’m feeling good about August, though still a bit shocked that the calendar has flipped again. Onward to September as the summer dwindles – may the fading be as slow as snails. 8 months ago
