become a magazine editor

I was just asked to do more work for the magazine I editing. Two days a week and NO EXTRAORDINARY EFFORT on my part. I work and look for opporunities and don’t say no. That’s the key.

I did all of the editing for the magazine. I chased stories, edited stories, tracked stories, re-wrote stories. Now the mag is in pre-press and I haven’t heard of anything.

I did research Scholastic Editors while I was going the magazine. Those postions didn’t appeal to me. I want to do parenting writing, not necessarily writing for children.

I’m putting this in the done for now folder. We’ll see what happens in the future. 4 years ago

I think this would be a great job for me! I am a car guy and would love to write about them for a living! but have no idea how to go about it. 4 years ago

I’m giving this one up for now because I don’t see myself putting any effort toward this in the immediate future.

While I’m also not planning on living in a foreign country for the next decade, that goal does make me feel good when I read it. It makes me feel warm, fuzzy, tingly. Becoming a magazine editor does not.

However I do cotton to the idea of editing romance novels. Now THAT iS a rather fantastic goal that does make me feel good. I’m going to add this to my 43 things, which is down to 24 Things. 5 years ago

even though im only 14 i really wish to be a magazine editor because i love reading them so i might as well edit them rite????? 5 years ago

After careful consideration, I think I’m going to pass on this. The timing is not right because I have a major development project going on. The opportunity sounds like something I’d love to do. I just can’t give it my full attention. So, I’m thinking the responsible response would be to decline. Ah well. 5 years ago

I guess I should say that I’m entertaining an offer to be a managing editor for a magazine. The opportunity was presented to see if there was any interest. I have so much going on that I really need to consider whether this is really where I want to focus my time and efforts.

I’m thrilled to have such an opportunity to consider. I plan to meet with the publisher this week to further discuss the details.
