If you were on the moon during a lunar eclipse what would it look like? Would the Earth be “red”? I just thought this was really interesting, even though I know it’s a bit off topic. I wish an astronaut could go there and see what it looks like…
I was so fortunate to get to see an honest-to-goodness solar eclipse at 11:11 on August 11, 1999. I was at St. Edmund Hall, Oxford University, Oxford, UK at the time, and if memory serves, the eclipse was around 90% or so there. The 100% views were not terribly far away, so it was very obvious from where I was. It’s definitely a memory I treasure…
It went cloudy at the crucial moment last time I saw one. I want to experience the tidal wave of black shadow they talk about. It was amazed at how all the birds dive bommed to the ground because they thought it was night time.
I was 5 years old and at a BBQ. I beleive it was in the morning and it suddenly got dark. I remember thinking it was the shortest day EVER!! lol I remember everyone running out to look at the sky…

Witnessing an eclipse is a bit like going through an entire day-night cycle in a few minutes. I watched the eclipse from the beach, and as it got darker, the air became colder and more windy – the “evening”. Then, as the Moon took a hike from the face of the Sun, it became warm again – the “morning”.
My folks at the countryside told me that during the eclipse, the hens in their farm went into the hen house to sleep… :-)

I saw the sun get eaten by dragons in Kansas City and near Philly.
Watching the eclipse on the ground through the tree was better than the viewer I made. It got really cool as it got dark.
We went to my family’s beach house in Buchuaco, around 30 mins away from my parents town, Coro (Falcon State)
The date was Feb. 26 1998.
