I am terribly saddened, because the only time he’ll be anywhere near where I could conceivably go, I can’t go anywhere. A friend of mine is going to pick up a copy of Anansi Boys and get it signed for me - which excites me beyond all reason - but this is the second near-miss of Neil Gaiman I’ve had!
It makes me really sad. Maybe someday soon I’ll get a chance to be where he is at the same time, not before or after. 7 years ago
I wish I was able to properly talk to him though! Such a patient, warm, accomodating person. 7 years ago
and i haven’t even finished reading it yet. i’ve only read two of his books, Coraline and Stardust. (i can’t get past Wednesday of Good Omens.) my boyfriend bought Smoke and Mirrors for me last Saturday, and Neil Gaiman signed it yesterday. i’m so glad i went with my friends to see him. seeing them all jumping up and down and crying and stunned with delight and disbelief upon meeting this person who has inspired and influenced them made me somewhat jealous and extremely happy at the same time. jealous, because although i’ve enjoyed reading those two books, i can’t really say that he has influenced me in a great way (not yet, anyway). but i am happy, because i now look forward to reading all his stories, knowing that it will be time very well spent, and because these friends of mine have shown me what it’s like to look up to someone for a good part of your young life and soon find out that he’s actually a genuine human being (i now realize that this part is also what i’m actually jealous about). this experience is definitely worth remembering. 7 years ago
