Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

sblifegoalsDesign and tattooist sorted

So, good start to my 2014 resolutions. Have already been in touch with the tattoo studio my friend recommended, emailed them by design, and set a price. Next step will be to pop in post payday, pay a deposit and book an appointment. 11 months ago

The tattoo that i’ve wanted since I was 12. It already means so much to me. To remind me to keep going, and to remind me what I have been through… 2 years ago

Ohmygosh! I’m so happy. Not with the tattoo itself, it’s a simple design on the back of my neck, a treble and bass clef shaped as a heart, nothing big. I’m just happy with the step forward I’ve made.

Being an artist and having been interested in the tattoo world for some years, regularly attending tattoo festivals, hanging at parlours, apprenticing, etc it was about time I got some ink done on me. I had always been nervous because I have a needle anxiety and whilst I can watch other people get inked no problem, the thought of it being done on myself made me faint. I know, such a baby.

So I grit my teeth last night and went for it, imagining I would be a wuss and faint or cry or ask for the guy to stop every five seconds, but honestly it felt like I was getting a rough massage – I was falling asleep towards the end. Now I just need to focus on taking good care of it until it heals. Looking forward to future ink! :D 2 years ago

Elle LUntitled

I know what I am getting: an ‘om’ symbol on my ankle :) I need to figure out the exact placement of it and size, as well as save up money for it.

I have always contemplated getting an om symbol for what it stands for and for my spirituality. About 2-3 months ago I started living a different lifestyle: a much healthier lifestyle. Now I have achieved a healthy mind body and soul and am so happy with myself every day and proud of the woman I am becoming. When I reach my final goal weight of 135 and maintain it for 2 weeks, I can get this tattoo as a reward to myself and as a remidner to always stay happy and healthy. It is a reminder not only to take a second for clarity and recconect with the universe but just to be well and achieve inner peace every day. I think I will hoefully be getting it around May 5th :) 2 years ago

I am halfway in the three weeks of consideration of a motive. If i still want it then, i am getting my armed inked this fall. Money will be a factor i have to choose between this and taking a trip to Amsterdam. 3 years ago

Afrika123I Decided... Finally!

For as long as I can remember, I have always wanted to get a tattoo; but, I could never decide on what design I desired or its placement. But, finally, I have made my decision… and it feels right! And, now, I want more than one tattoo—I want three!

1. Chinese symbols for strength & courage, inner left wrist
2. Butterfly with wings folded in, right shoulder
3. Phoenix, lower back

I don’t have any particular order in which I would like to get them. I would just like to lose some weight before I get the one on my shoulder and lower back. And, more important to the hold up on getting my first one is my lack of money. So, as soon as my budget and wallet can sustain this expense, I will be tatted!

Wish me luck! 3 years ago
