I did this, went to the state association convention and had a great time. It will be in Springfield in a couple of years. I will try and volunteer to help out with that one. Would like to go to LITA this year if it is close by. 7 years ago

florenawGoing to do this one in a couple weeks

I signed up for MLA, got my hotel and if I did not have so much reading I would be getting excited. The workshops all look great. I am going to get to meet Librarian. She will be presenting on blogs, rss and wikis. I am a little ways away from the others. And the student association is going to give the 4 of us going some money for expenses. I will probably have to do Dr. Budd reading those evenings. I am trying to get homework done up, well it is on my mind anyway, not sure if I will have time to do it. He is supposed to be having a reception. Not sure how excited I am about meeting him, but I hope to meet some of the names from the discussion boards. I hate driving in KC. I have Mapquest directions from hotel to convention and back. It is only a mile. Surely I won’t get lost, at least after the first time anyway. Not sure if I should take my George Forman, my hot plate, or just plan on fast food. They wanted a fortune for the meal meetings. But I just learned about the Benoit whatever about how to talk to the milleniums. That came up last face to face when I mentioned Angela Davis and Andi my bud asked me later who that was. I think they wanted $40 for that one. But I will see if anyone canceled. You never know. I also am going to the preconference on publishing. Its late. Goodnight. 7 years ago

florenawCancel LITA

Well, I missed the deadline for applying for the 50% off for students. You had to write a letter and tell them why they should pick you. I thought the deadline was August 26, but it was Aug. 19 and they tell you if you were chosen the other date. I emailed and asked what was the deadline to say you plan to attend. I have some money on the horizon, but just too close to count on by the time of the conference. They never answered, they must be full up. On Aug. 27 I spent an hour writing some haikus on the order of the Windows hiakus trying to be different and get their attention. True, I only spent an hour at it. I wrote a book of poetry late 1970s on majority/minority relations through my eyes and my experiences. I called it Oversized Glasses on a Chameleon’s Nose, which I now shorten to just Chameleon. I have mocked it up years ago for a personal website that is still to be created. But I don’t know if an hour is enough time to come up with a decent haiku, although poems usually just fall from the sky for me and I don’t spend a lot of time on them. I am going to throw it in here so I can look at it later and decide if I am going to dust if off for next years LITA conference which surely will be somewhat closer. MLA is a good conference for your first year. Besides, I have put aside the same week as LITA to take off from work and catch up on the library blogosphere.

I have a small purse.
LITA offers solutions
For twelve who worship.

My world’s a small pond.
They call me geek and techie.
I seek bigger pond.

I learn much in class.
The library blogsphere
tells me even more.

43thing’s goal
attend library con’frence
is now in danger.

I can write name tags.
I can review resumes.
I just love grunt work.

You step in the stream
but the water has moved on.
I fight to keep up.

Serious error.
More reasons have disappeared.
Screen. Mind. Both are blank. 7 years ago
