Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

somekindofalchemisti'm not done learning arabic but i want it off my list

I don’t like having things on there i’m not working on so i’ll put it under ‘give up’. there should be another option like ‘to return to at a later date’. give up sounds defeatist. 2 weeks ago

somekindofalchemisti've completed my course

I was the only one who turned up for my class which was awkward. I was told to go on the intermediate course next year so I am going to enrol for that. I wish I could jump to GCSE but I can’t. If you’re at school and you have this as an option – take it! don’t overthink it! it’s free! that means a lot.

I am going to go through the book Mastering Arabic, learn the colours, vegetables, fruits and basic grammar. Hopefully i’ll start to form sentences. I also need to read more. 3 weeks ago

somekindofalchemisti'm taking a 2 week class

I learned some around 10 years ago but I am taking the beginners class regardless. I might take the main course in September and use my time up until then to focus on Italian. 4 weeks ago

shinystar611Four semesters of Arabic

But I still have a long way to go 4 months ago

NeferticiaUntitled

I finally enrolled for an arabic course, an intensive one with 3 hours per week. It was supposed to start tonight but it got postponed to the end of october.
I’m really happy to finally be able to learn this language, i’ve been thinking about it for years but everytime found an excuse to put it for later. 10 months ago

wilskenatorGoal defined

I would like to be able to speak Arabic at a conversational level, and have some knowledge of the script. 12 months ago

lasoulStill learning

I thought I would do a quick update on my arabic.
I finished a arabic course at the university. I learnt to read and pronounce arabic words there as well as some basic grammar.
Now I am still learning on my own.
But I was not very dedicated to this for the last few month.
Inshallah I will be more focused the next months 15 months ago

GeeDubayouMy Goal

Work at a large airport and there’s always a lot of arabic speaking travellers flying to London Heathrow or Gatwick, and I’d like to be able to converse with them in their language. I’m not sure though how ill accomplish this. 19 months ago
