Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

kmom2468Been doing a mile or so a day

On the treadmill. Getting healthier! I am working on becoming healthy for the second half of my first 100 years! 11 months ago

kmom2468Off the Blood Pressure Meds!

Still overweight, but doing so much better! 49 more years to work on this goal. 15 months ago

kmom2468I'm getting stronger

I can tell that even though I am only doing aerobic exercises right now, I am still getting stronger. I can feel muscles in my arms and core – I was able to carry two flat panel monitors at one time the other day and walk them all the way down the hall at work – with ease. In the past, it would certainly have been a “get the cart” and roll them down the hall event. So much easier to just carry them. Having these strong muscles will help me not be so clumsy and help me live to be over 100. 2 years ago

kmom2468Get the blood pressure and sugar DOWN

and the Iron levels UP
That will help a LOT towards helping me live longer! 2 years ago

kmom2468Working out

I found some low impact exercise videos for my iPhone and have been using them a few times a week. I’m not losing any weight :-( – but I can tell that my “wind” and stamina are getting better. Hopefully that means my heart is doing better, too. 3 years ago

kmom2468Nearly half way to 100

And I am now in better health than I was 10 years ago. I read a book called “Younger Next Year for Women” by Chris Crowley & Henry S. Lodge (there is a version for men, also). In it, they propose some concrete actions that one can take to “Live Strong, Fit, and Sexy – Until You’re 80 and Beyond.” Their tennants are well thought out and based on the science of today (Henry is a practicing doctor). I have tried some of them, and they are definately contributing to my overall well being. I guess this goal will be around for 50 something more years – hopefully it will remind me to keep doing good things for my body, soul, and mind so I can keep on keeping on for a long time to come! 4 years ago
