Even if it’s a small trip, we grow a lot. We learn to depend only on ourselves and be resourceful. It makes us feel like a backpacker. It’s very fun… and makes you feel more independent and free. It’s good to sit by the bus window just reflecting on your life. It’s so different than when you travel with someone else and just rely on them. I want to have many more solo trips! 8 months ago

I grew up living in my parents house ever since and life has been easy breezy. Travelling alone would mean a real challenge but I’m happy I did it! I’m now temporarily living in Kenya for work and the experience is amazing! I’ll also travel alone to Masai Mara this August and enjoy the spectacular view. 11 months ago

Claire Colburn: To have never taken a solitary road trip across country? I mean everybody’s got to take a road trip, at least once in their lives. Just you and some music. 15 months ago

Find someplace you will feel safe and go. You can plan everything out if that makes you feel safer, or just plan the first few days and then wing it.
This teaches you a lot about yourself. 16 months ago

Hi there, just added this goal which I’ve wanted to do for a while. I actually travel to Orange County (i’m from Mexico) 3 months ago to take an intensive dance workshop… because dance is my biggest passion. I wasn’t willing to let it pass me by just because I bearly have any friends who are passionate about dance… so after taking 2 workshops at my city, to which I attended alone also, I booked my trip to California and it was such a great experience. Would do it again.
However I want to go farther, I would love to go to ireland on my own, as well as to a bautiful village kind of place located in Uruguay… It looks sooo inspiring. I have no deadline to do this and since I’m planning to go on a cruise with mom next year, my trip to Uruguay or Ireland will have to be put on hold for that time… I cannot afford both trips in a year. Of course sometimes I feel intimidated about this goal, even though I’m a person who really enjoys loneliness (as much as being with friends); I can go to the movies, or invite myself out for a coffee or a good dinner, to take a walk or whatever, just me and myself, a good book… and I love it. But going alone to a country which language I don’t even speak or things like that make me a little nervous and I definitely want to overcome that feeling and just do it. 20 months ago

I wanna go and see what the world has without anyones input but my own. Create memories that will be special only to me! so much of our lives are spent around other people and worrying what others think. I wanna get away and go where i want..and maybe get lost a few times along the way. I think this would be the best way to feel truly free. 22 months ago

so, for spring break all my friends are going home, but I’m international, so home’s a bit far for me… I think it’s time for some solo travel! It’s only a week, but I think a good taster, to see if one day I want to go for longer…. haven’t told my parents yet – eek!! 2 years ago
