...last night at a friends wedding. Seeing people who I hadn’t seen in a while. Was very nice and I felt good too! So it was easier to accept them.

This is so hard, it’s not that I don’t like them but it just feels uncomfortable. I need to work on this :)
Well, I kind of work my way around compliments, as if the person had never even said it in the first place. Is that better or worse than denying a compliment?

I got a compliment yesterday and I said thank you. The only part I need to improve on is that I went on to say “I have really been trying but still feel behind a lot.” I am glad that I said thank you but I am going to work on just leaving it at that.

I tend to not accept compliments well. I try to just say thank you but I usually say something like it was really cheap or this shirt is really old. So when I say something like that it pretty much just tells that person that they have crappy taste. I need to just say thanks.
everytime somebody compliments me i disagree with it.
its just a habit now, i dont believe anything positive anybody says to me. i think its rude that i always disagree and i hope to change it.
I’m accepting them instead of denying them now, but I get all shy and timid and I don’t know how to respond. I was able to mutter out a “thank you” when these upperclassmen girls were fawning over me, which made me really uncomfortable.
So many years of teasing and name calling I’ve stopped accepting compliments. I always have to say, “oh no no no, you’re wrong, I’m not really _.” Apparently it’s rude to not accept compliments though, so I’m learning to at least say “thank you.”
