RachaelNot so good

Although this week we bought peppers, carrots and garlic. And we have frozen strawberries, raspberries and blackberries. A few weeks ago I made strawberry and lychee smoothie ice lollies, which were very nice :) 2 years ago

RachaelA useful mailing list

A friend of mine told me about Spoonfed Suppers a few days ago and I thought I’d share it with you: http://www.spoonfedsuppers.com/

It’s a mailing list that gives you a daily recipe for your evening, cooked meal which guarantees to have no more than 550 calories, a total of 30 minutes to prepare, and to give usually 2, or 3 of your 5 a day :)

Just thought it might be a helpful resource. 3 years ago

RachaelBetter that I'm home

Since money isn’t an issue in my parent’s house, and they like to buy us what we actually will eat/drink, etc. I have been drinking a lot of smoothies, and one of my favourite ones actually counts as 2 of your 5 a day. So that’s good. 3 years ago

RachaelThis is important

As most days, I hardly have any vegetables. Sweetcorn is my main vegetable, as to be honest, there aren’t many that I like! I blend up peppers, carrots and anything that isn’t green (I detest lettuce, broccoli, etc. which is a shame since the dark, leafy veggies are the best for you!), but only when I remember about it. I will try and do some kind of check list for each day, and add some extra fruits and vegetables in for snacks, and into my other meals. 3 years ago

alishabliss_proving to be fairly difficult

i’m really a lousy excuse for a vegetarian, considering this is difficult for me. but it really isn’t one of the easiest goals i’ve set for myself. however, i do feel i’m moving in the right direction with it.
the smoothie idea mentioned below really strikes me as a great idea, i’ll have to look into that. also, drinking more juice, etc.
i’m going to go grocery shopping tomorrow. 4 years ago

frumpyMakes more change than I thought

This changes my life quite a bit:
  • I keep buying fruit, salads and veggies
  • At the beginning I tried to eat them on top of all the other things I had, but now I try to replace less healthy things and really integrate them in my daily diet
  • I talk about it with colleagues and friends
  • I keep a spreadsheat on what I eat to calculate the monthly average (just for the start as a success indicator; won’t do that for the rest of my life…) 5 years ago

frumpyI found a few websites where they give interesting information

Especially helpful are the portion sizes:

http://www.5aday.nhs.uk/WhatCounts/PortionSizesVegetables.aspx

They also offer a poster to keep track of your weekly fruit/veggie score:

i want to try and work hard at this goal so i went out and bought a smoothie maker and lots of exciting fruit to put in it!! For breakfast i had a peach, pear and apple one. I totally recomend this as you can consume lots of fruit or veg and its really tasty :) 5 years ago

soulbalmSnacking on fruit

I’ve been doing quite well on this goal recently, snacking on fruit and eating more salad.
I’ve also been eating pasta with tomato-based sauce a lot lately, and I’m assuming that counts too.
Off I go to have my daily glass of orange juice. 6 years ago
