Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

angiebabybooLiving room

I need to do my living room over paint and get a couch and love seat or sofa rug… 2 years ago

AmejiBlue and Brown and lots of Elephants..

Thrift stores, garage sales, and the before and after is amazing. I applied a new coat of paint, warm comforting colors, and added lots of wall hangings and art. It is so comfortable now, lived in and perfect for me. :) 4 years ago

korrynneso, so mad.

We had a tropical storm come buy last week, the first time it rained in a while, and the worst time to discover that they had not, in fact, repaired the roof leaks like they said they did. We had all the bowls in the house down, and had to wake up every 15 minutes to empty and replace them. I haven’t been so mad in forever. I love renting because you can call the magic maintenance men to fix all your problems for free, but what do you do if they just never fix them? 4 years ago

korrynnefew things off the list...

Found a recycling strategy that doesn’t involve buying a new bin, got hubby to change out the lightbulbs that I couldn’t reach, and moved the stack of library books into my trunk so I can drop them off next time I’m in the neighborhood.

Still a lot left to do:
*Return library books that are stacked by the front door (for 2 1/2 years – I’m so bad!).
*Get the broken lamp rewired.
*Buy a duvet cover so I don’t have to shove the comforter in the washing machine every time.
*Get some nice drink coasters.
*Put up some little hooks in the closet.
*Paint the brown computer table a fun color.
*Hem the curtain (that’s been pinned for 6 months).
*Buy a new bedroom wall light (since I broke the other one trying to replace the bulb).
*Move the boxed Christmas decorations to storage.
*Move all the boxes of files to storage.
*Get a bookshelf.
*Get a shoe rack for the closet.
*Sell the old (useless) dryer and buy a ventless one.
*Empty the last few boxes from the move (6 months ago).
*Stabilize the kitchen shelf.
*Change out the shower head.
*Fix the ring on the stove.
*Fix the bathroom drain.
*Replace (holey) window screen.
*Caulk along the walls. 4 years ago

korrynneWasn't on the list...

but I picked up some candles (from Bath&Body Works), which always makes the house nicer. My favorite is Vanilla Caramel. 4 years ago

korrynneLeak fixed?

Called the maintenance people (one thing I truly love about renting) and they say they resealed the skylights a few days ago. Guess we’ll see next time it rains… 4 years ago

korrynneI really love my apartment...

but there are so many things on the to-do list that would make it so much nicer to live in. For instance, a small medicine cabinet mirror was the only mirror in the entire apartment for the past 3 years, and I just picked up a full-length one for $4.99 and hammered it into the closet door with a few nails. And it has revolutionized getting dressed.

Now I want to get everything on the list done:

*Return library books that are stacked by the front door (for 2 1/2 years – I’m so bad!).
*Get a recycle bin (for the cans and bottles).
*Replace the burnt-out light bulbs.

DONE:
*Get the skylight fixed so that it doesn’t leak every time it rains. 4 years ago

AmejiBlue

I have painted! My living room is now baby blue, and looks so much better. I have to paint the bedroom and bathroom now, but I am so excited. My place is finally starting to feel like a home. 6 years ago

bk_toniMaking my mouse-house a home

I call it a “mouse house” b/c its so tiny only a mouse would fit here. But instead of moving, I’m thinking this is an opportunity to get creative and fix up the place to suit me.

Small-space solutions advice happily accepted.

This week I’m going to focus on lighting. Its got terrible lighting—looks like a dreary 70s movies in here. 6 years ago

storedhoneyI am pretty much done.

floors refinished.
rooms painted.
kitchen has new stove and dishwasher (have to call company)

things need to be moved but it feels good to get this much done 6 years ago
