trying to learn how to better use 43 things
So I have become very interested in being more self sufficient, This decision is based on my desire to not give all of our hard earned money to the power company for something that can be free. The benifits of doing this are that I am able to shift the flow of earned income to more badly needed areas within our household, also help the inviroment, and allow myself to teach others what I have learned and help them in the way i am trying to help myself.
So far my first step has been to become educated about solar energy and how it works, what some of the benifits are and weigh them against some of the disadvantages. I did this by using the internet, and the public library.
The second step has been to make a search in my local area and that is where I am now. I have sent in a electronic interest card to a company operating in my town, and hope to make a home appointment withing the next week. The site I found to set this up was

Keep tuned in i will post what else happens soon!

My house goes through 900$ of oil monthly on summer and winter months. I spend about 225 monthly on electricity. the water is heated by the oil and doesn’t initially come out hot so it has to be run for a while first for every bath and it costs me about 300 monthly. All these bills on top of mortgage and miscellaneous bills is very difficult. Please tell me how I could run my house on Solar power to alleviate my financial stress.
My home is very spacious and has about 30 windows in the living room on each floor in my two story home, that is not including the bedrooms.
I do have a steeply roof. and many unused rooms. Please give me insight on how to handle this.
I also have a lot of greenary and trees surrounding the home, I need to get rid of them. However, how can I use all these things to my advantage to make this work for me.

I have been doing electrical work for 20+ years.
I had my own business in Florida, but I just moves to VA.
I am looking for info on installing solar power in the Richmond area.
I am also planning on remodeling my home using green materials and solar panels on the roof.

I’d love to do this, but right now there’s no real prospect that it’s going to happen—there are too many other priorities taking up both time and money, and I don’t foresee that changing anytime soon.
I may revisit this goal a few years down the road.

thinks Wednesday will be great for working on 43T!
Well, I never thought this would be the case, but I have been talked into another boiler heating system (gas powered)—I truly didn’t think I would ever get another one, but there were some compelling arguments, so I just hope it is everything I am told it will be!

Okay, so this is a tiny step, but it’s progress! We had our contractor over today to give us some estimates on some projects- one of which is to redo our heating system so it’s electric instead of gas. Looks like this is going to be less expensive than we thought. So, once we can manage that project- we’re that much closer to realizing this goal! Yay for that!!

This is one of my long-term goals. I plan to sock away part of each paycheck into savings until I can afford to have solar paneling installed. My current rough estimate is that this may take about a year. I think it’ll be worth it.

need to find that helpful website I looked at before and start taking some notes. The next step would be to find a qualified contractor in the area, and call for a free estimate.
