While I did not meet the Dalai Lama directly, I got to see him in a lecture. So I got to see him in person. As I expected, he was a very witty and interesting character. I read the Art of Happiness and the principals that he talked about were the same as the book. My favorite part of the lecture was his description of a secular universals ethical code. He identified that perceiving the world through one religious frame of mind constricts your ability to see the world “realistically”. In order to see the world realistically we must view it from multiple perspectives and not be blinded by our emotions and biases. Life is a beautiful thing and I want to experience it in every way possible! Cheers! 13 months ago

I looked his schedule up and saw that he will be coming by San Jose, about an hour away from where I attend school, on October 12th. I’m planning on calling the Gyuto Center, where he’ll be speaking, tomorrow for additional information. Wish me luck! 2 years ago

I’m going to see him speak on May 18th in Cedar Falls, IA. Will I get a chance to say hi to him? Probably unlikely, but I’m hoping! 3 years ago

The single most amazing moment of my life was when His Holiness asked to meet ME. I had posed a question during a teaching in Madison WI about some health issues I was having, and whether or not I should keep them a secret from my family to avoid them suffering with worry. One thing led to another, and after the teaching I found myself being taken to meet my hero. Not only did we meet, but he pulled me into his arms, breathed a blessing into me, and then hugged me fiercely. Suffice to say, my health problem went away. Truly he’s the embodiment of a living Chenrezig. 3 years ago

an essay about him two years ago sophomore year in high school and to do this, I had to research his whole life. I ended up borrowing two of his books and although I only skimmed through them, I felt enlightened and at ease reading his beliefs and ideas. Maybe he will make an appearance wherever I am one day? 3 years ago

And ask him if it’s what you want to do or what you have to do that really matters. 4 years ago
