Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

GothNoodleI did a small touch up job

Took in some sleeves and shortened them. It took 10 minutes but I had been procrastinating for weeks, so it’s already something!

I want to try to make cowl tops with jersey I bought but I don’t have the energy today. 3 years ago

GothNoodleI've sewn

Two corset tubes (to wear under my corset).
One during my holiday week, and one this afternoon.
They’re really simple tubes made of jersey, but it was good to start with something quick and easy. 3 years ago

I use to be so passionate about sewing. I taught myself how to hand sew, then I took private lessons in middle school to learn how to machine sew. I still have the first skirt and shirt I ever made! 6 years ago

My mom and I were at Wal*mart about a week ago and I was looking at the scrapbooking stuff and I turned and I saw all the sewing stuff and the fabrics and stuff so I walked over and they have a bunch of Indians, Cavs, and Browns fleece fabric, so my mom said in a week or two she’d take me back to buy me some fabric and stuff so I can make myself and my brothers some pillows. YAY! 6 years ago

I swear I’m going to start doing this in the new year, I want to be able to make cute little pillows again and little pillow cases… 6 years ago

laughingsisterdoing it

got out the machine, bought the fabric and am moving in the right direction. Now all I need is to make some room where there aren’t any small children, dogs, cats, daughters or boyfriends – should only take a couple of weeks 6 years ago

eddievonteeseSewing is AWESOME!

I used to sew constantly… I ran my own clothing line where I designed, advertised, fabricated and sold the clothes MYSELF. This was great, especially when the stuff got picked up by a couple of stores. I thought I’d drop out of art school and pursue fashion, and anytime I went out I’d throw together something to wear that evening… Eventually, due to school and time constraints I was totally overwhelmed and unable to meet deadlines. This was a problem. I started hating sewing. In the last few years I’ve picked it up again, including a new obsession of creating burlesque and vaudeville costumes (and puppets!) I’ve been making all of my dresses again and ordering AMAZING fabric off of ebay. Again, I am sewing and loving it. I encourage everyone to dust off their old machine and pick it up again! 7 years ago

jenabearI made something super easy tonight

I made a pair of these tonight:
http://totallystitchin.net/projects/pdf/Proj79-Project-Sarong_Wrap_Pants.pdf

Very easy, and very comfy. I did make them with a knit (which was a pain in the ass…)

I might try with a something else just to see how it works…I figure so long as it’s a lighter weight material, and there’s plenty of material to wrap around, I can use something other than a knit… 7 years ago
