Go Kayaking

How I did it: I hooked up with a volunteer-run organization called The New York Downtown Boathouse, which provides free kayaking lessons and guided trips in NYC.  NYDBH provided all the equipment--the kayak itself, oar, the life jacket, even a locker to store my stuff in.  Best of all, everything was free.  All they ask for is a donation (and I was more than happy to oblige them).  The volunteers are really great. How I did it: While camping at Dutch Hollow last weekend, some of our menfolk came across a flier for kayak rentals. How I did it: I'm afraid of the open ocean water. To try to face this fear, my boyfriend and I went sea kayaking. The first time we did this was in Cabo San Lucas. We kayaked in the Sea of Cortez. The views were amazing. We took our time just paddling and enjoying the beautiful views.
