How I did it: I searched through my change, my husband's change, I traded quarters, my husband swapped quarters at his work. During a darker episode (known as "searching for Iowa"), I would stand in front of the pop machine at work, feed it 3 quarters and then hit "change" to get 3 new quarters in hopes of finding the right quarter. So when I started, about 30 of the quarters had already been issued,.Mostly, I looked through my change and got my family members to check their change as well. How I did it: My sister started me on this project in 1999 (she works for the Federal Reserve Bank) and gave me my first quarter. I was going to order quarters from the Mint, but she said that was "cheating" and that I had to find them on my own, so the "hunt" was on.
