How I did it: I used an existing vege garden around the back of the house which I actually had weeded and plowed about three times over two years only to let the weeds grow back again as I felt I lacked the knowledge of how to go about actually growing vegetables. How I did it: Ive managed to grow a variety of fruit and vegetables over the last 2 summers. I think in total I have grown carrots, broccoli, squashes, pumpkins (unsuccessfully I might add), leeks, strawberries, tomatoes and grapes. In spring I buy a load of seed packets, sow the seeds in little containers, and when big enough I either plant them in bigger pots, grow bags or my vegetable patch. How I did it: I planted carrots and beetroot. Probably too late in the year so they took ages to grow and never grew really large but were still really yummy. Brought some special dirt from the nursary. Just used the seed packets. Read how I did it…
How I did it: I live in an apartment in the city, but you can't let that stop you. In our yard I made my own flowerbed by building a frame of plank and then filling it with soil. How I did it: bits and pieces, lettuce in hanging baskets as well as cabbage, leeks and i think that was it, got the baby plants from the local market so this helped me along very well, the hanging baskets helped me as it didnt cause much change in the garden i was staying in. watering tlc and that was it, it was nice that it was a small project so as i could get a feel for it.
