back in 2003 i went to Airlie beach and took sail boat to the reef. I wanna go up more north – Cairns area. soon enought.
I grew up in Australia but only saw the Great Barrier Reef when I went back with my (future) wife. It is definitely worth seeing before you die or it is destroyed. I would learn to scuba dive first so you get the most out of the trip.

Since the idea of spending NYE in Sydney this year has been canned, we’re entertaining the idea of going to Queensland & me finally going to see the Great Barrier Reef for myself (this will be Zach’s third trip there if we go).
I have 5 different Queensland brochures I got from the travel agency last Thursday. It’s a matter of sifting through them, watching out for great flight deals from the airlines, looking at Wotif & booking them.
It’d be the first time I spend NYE without my family (& my first with Zach!) so it’ll be interesting to just be the two of us. But it’d be awesome to spend it there.
Dont go scuba diving after a hard night out.
I’d love to go scuba diving at the great barrier reef. I’m going to Australia in May and i’ll be staying nearby so i’ve GOT to go!
rbc709295 is planning her trip to Ireland!
If I can get over #23 then this will be no problem at all for me. I greatly desire to see this reef and I don’t know why. I’m afraid of sharks and swimming in the ocean but for some unknown reason there is a gigantic draw for me to this place. I will see it someday, that much I know.
I scubaed, my boyfriend snorkeled, we both had a great time and different experiences
