Another one of the most facinating natural events you will ever experience. Best done away from all city lights. Even better if Earth is moving through the astroid belt – there’s a lot of shooting stars. It’s typically around late July-early August.

I did this several times, mostly when I was drunk and drunk enough to fall asleep just anywhere, having no memories just a hang-over…..
BUT I also did it on holiday and in the desert in Egypt and the sahara. The white desert in Egypt was so special, really one of the most strange and beautiful places I’ve been. Its so remote, in the middle of nowhere and silent I’ve never experienced before or after. It gives you tickles inside…..

I slept out on a rocky outcrop in the middle of Kakadu National Park in Australia. the entire event was indescribably gorgeous, and i would do it again in a heartbeat. i couldn’t sleep for hours because the moon was full and let me tell you, that baby can really shine! i slept once it set, and then awoke to watch the rosy dawn crawl across a cliff face 20 km away. the best thing—too high off the ground for mosquitos!

Wow, funny I should find this entry right now, I was just talking about this with the waitress and my parents while we were out at dinner.
A friend and I used to do this as kids, load up our canoe, paddle to an island not far from their cottage, lay out our sleeping bags and sleep under the stars.
Ah well, when you are a kid, you don’t care about sore backs and other such discomforts! LOL

I did this at the Pinkpop festival in 2001, but it was extremely cold, hard and I really didn’t sleep much. We watched people putting out fires, drunk people tripping over tentlines and did a lot of stargazing, thát was fun. The sleeping part was lousy :S

I sleep under the stars wherever I please!
In a hammock, on a boat.
