How I did it: I have been sewing for years. I got into it probably when I was about 12. I am all self taught and trust me it shows. lol. My clothing comes out fantastic sometimes and sometimes it goes straight to goodwill. I am still struggling with making my personal clothing designs into actual clothing but i am really good at restructuring old clothing. I make any old shirt into a skirt, halter, dress or purse. I actually just finished a recons… Read how I did it…
How I did it: I now have a whole new wardrobe consructed from things I didnt want or wear anymore. I started small and made a simple dress from an old shirt and some spare material which turned out really well... Then I made a denim skirt out of some old jeans. After that I felt really inspired to renovate everything I dont use to something I do Read how I did it…

How I did it: I just gave it a try and it worked! A few books helped, like the 99 ways books. They got me started. It is an ongoing process, I feel like I am getting better and better and I create a newthing. Read how I did it…

I’m realizing that I haven’t the faintest idea where to start, and the books I checked out sat on my shelf for weeks. I need a simple activity to launch this endeavor.
My bite-sized goal is to modify one article of clothing I already own using a sewing technique (darts or something).
Ok, so I finally finished the suspender/apron dress Ive been maing since this spring. Oroginally it was meant to be just a skirt, but I found a 40’s pattern online and decided to make it instead, all I had to do was make the suspenders and now its finished. Im not sure if I like it, but I guess its because the fabric, its cotton, but was originally bed sheets, sp its a bit thin and flowy. Im satisfied tho, and if I manage to get my hands on either a petticoat or some tulle it would look even better since its a full skirt.
Im wearing it tomorrow, sincce its the first thing Ive made that doesnt look like crap. So im well on my way to making this goal.
It would better ensure that I am not supporting sweat shops, child labor and underpaid workers. I highly disagree with all of these and there are more I could put I am sure. Also since the companies expect their riches they do not deserve any help from me in that.
I’M JUST NINE YEARS OLD AND WHEN I START DESIGNING MY OWN CLOTHES.I FEEL I’M A REAL FASSION DESIGNER.

I knit and crochet but want to learn to sew, also. Most of my fiber arts projects don’t go beyond accessories, but I want to expand my domain.
Benefits:
*Making anything, in contrast to our ready made culture, is practically revolutionary.
*I can combine creativity with skill building and goal accomplishment. Win win win.
*I can face my attitude toward my own body in a way that isn’t confrontational or risky, and try to improve my sense of self pride.
well i am a 12 year old girl my dream is to make my own clothing line when i am older i am really good at making my own designs so have a look at my designs and tell me what you think

If I manage to lose the extra pounds I’m hoiking around with me, I would love nothing better than to wear dresses all the time. My predicament is my thighs. I really don’t like them. My arms I can tolerate, when a waist belt is thrown in my stomach looks flat and my waist, hips and bum look curvacious is the best way possible, but my thighs… not so much. The point is I have a difficult shape when it comes to dresses. There’s always something wrong with every dress I see and the ones that are the most visually pleasing are always the most expensive. It would be fantastic to be able to tailor a dress to fit me in all the right places in the perfect colour, perfect pattern, perfect shape and perfect length.

“Does anyone know how to make t-shirt transfers (eg a picture) onto darkly coloured t-shirts? Transfer paper works well with light / pastel colours but I can't seem to get anything onto black t-shirts... I know it can be done!!”
