How to get a cool job
How I did it: I just tried to act confident, like I knew what the hell I was doing, when in reality, I don't. I'm a hard worker, and I know I'm a hard worker, I just had to convince the owner of the restaurant of that. She's giving me a shot cooking in her restaurant even though I don't have much cooking experience, which I really appreciate. So I'm working hard at making a good impression. I need to memorize the menu as quickly as possible so I can use less energy trying to remember what goes in what, and make my focus getting all the orders right. It's gonna get busy and hectic for sure.
So how'd I get the job?
Be confident. Be presentable. Have your resume with references on it. Apply early, as soon as the job add goes up. Be friendly. Make eye contact. Be honest about your experience level. Be punctual. Think that's about it. Good luck!
This is not the last cool job I'm going to get. I've wanted to be a cook in a cool restaurant for a while, just checking it off the list. Next up, published author/documentarian.
Cheers!

every job ive had sucks or is still cool but something about it just majorly sucks for me so i quit..
ugh.
I obtained a degree, landed a very stressfull job with an awesome title(ego booster) and a very bad salary (26K). All my life I was told that a degree would make me rich right away. What happened to “get a degree and live the rich life?” I see people with no degrees that have jobs that pay almost as mine and they are always sitting just milking the clock, – stamp a paper and say next.Oh yeah and only 8-5 where I have to stay until the job gets done (12hrs). And the worst part is that if I screw up, I’m toast. I want a job where I can just talk to people, burn off the clock just sitting there, and have no resposibility even if I screw up. Oh, also one where I get a full 1 hr lunch and I’m out by 5pm. Also, a schedule from M-F 8-5. Saturdays and Sundays are mine and no stand-bys. Yes, I am willing to give up my fancy title for these luxuries.
Also, you do not need a degree to become rich, you already have a brain, all you need is capital/Money and passion for what you love to do.

So…. I’m a motherflippin’ railroad conductor. It’s not exactly a done deal yet; I still have some flaming, corporate hoops to jump through, but as long as I make it through that mumbo jumbo, I’m in.
Mission accomplished.

Wahoo! Yet another cattle call (this will make 5). DM&E Railroad this time. Maybe I’ll hire out with the most dangerous railroad in the country! That’d be exciting. Not too sure about calling the thriving metropolis of Waseca home, though. I wonder how the UtiliKilt would go over at the grocery store.
Whatever. I want to move trains and, frankly, couldn’t give a shit where or who for.

It’s gonna flippin’ happen. Some day my answer won’t take the tone of apology when someone asks, “So, what do you do?”
I’ve completed training as a railroad conductor, but my stack of rejection letters is impressive.
I’ve submitted a resume three contracts in a row to work at McMurdo Station in Antarctica. Twice as a lunch lady and once as a Material Requisition Specialist. No bites.
Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines keeps e-mailing me jobs I qualify for, but doesn’t call after I apply.
Coolworks.com is a pretty swell site, but nothing currently available really strikes my fancy.

I want a job that has something to do with accounting. And I want my job to pay good. Also I want the job to be enjoyable.
