clean up my computer

I’ve been wanting to do this one for a LOONG time (my 30gig hard drive keeps running out of space!) I’ve freed up about 8 gigs by removing pics, programs, and music to my brand new external hard drive. It took a while because my old hard drive was crashing… thanks to Best Buy, I got a brand new 320 gig drive for the same price as my old 160gig drive (that was still under warrentee :-)

I’ve been avoiding my e-mail client for a while now which isn’t helping things. I normally get at least two hundred e-mails in a checking, so this cleaning is long overdue.

I managed to get rid of 40mb so far and I’m hoping for even more today. Nearly 4,000 e-mail messages left to go…

I want to clean my pc from trojan virus.

My computer is so messed up , I just want to fix it..With the economy who has te money to throw hundreds of dollars fixing your computer these days?

I NEED TO CLEAN MY COMPUTER!

Let’s see where I am with this. I have been trying to be careful with saving new files and installing new software. Files are very well-organised right now, and I’m still using just about 20 GB all together.

I made a text-file in which I note what I’m installing and for what purpose. I’ve put a note in my tickler file to go over that list (and anything else that might have found its way in…) in June, and also do a general file-cleanup then. (This to satisfy my yearly cleanup goal from the previous post.)

Still evaluating music, but in the meantime I’ve got 1592 files left. I forgot about this for a while, I could go much faster of course.

Didn’t do much more on evaluating pictures. I looked through some of them (but I don’t know if I looked through all), and saved them to a cd, but the cd doesn’t seem to work, so I can’t delete them yet. In the meantime I’ve actually got a lot more pics to do (623).

So goals left:

• evaluate remaining music (1592 files left)
• evaluate pictures and print them out or at least save them onto a separate disc, and then delete them (623 files left)

I WANT MY CAMPUTER I BE FAST

Most of the 450mb or so… is gone. A lot of it was junk and/or mailing list stuff and it went back as far as 2005 in some instances. /shame/

I have, maybe, 25mb to go and then I’ll have finished with that aspect at least.

My computer has been very slow lately, so I’m going to clean out my entire computer, including my music files and documents and just… everything. I am also getting an expansion pack for The Sims 2, and possibly another one soon after that, and anything to do with The Sims takes up quite a bit of memory. I imagine this will take me an entire day. :)

I started doing some work on this goal and, shockingly, managed to go from 197mb of space up to over 500mb. Most of it was old stuff that had just built up over time that I hadn’t used since 2006 too. I’m taking a break from this today to get some knitting in but I will return for more thrashing.
