I have wanted to go to costa rica for a long time. While I’m there I want to visit a yoga farm in punta banco, and I also want to volunteer to help preserve the rainforest and animals. I am working on my spanish and learning how to take great pictures so I can have the best experience there!

How I did it: I talked to a few friends who had been there and began booking with efcollegebreak but didn't really like them (bad previous experience) so I canceled with them and decided to plan the trip on my own. I did some research and found anywherecostarica.com which is a GREAT company to work with to book transportation in CR, hotels, and activities. All you do is pay, print out your vouchers, and everything else falls into place. &nb… Read how I did it…

today we decided on the itinerary for our trip. we’re trekking through corcovado national park, as well as climbing mount chirripo. we’ll be doing some community work as well, and i just can’t wait!
i’ve got about £2500 saved up, which is great. it means i only need to find another £500 and then i need to accumulate my kit, which will cost me so much less because can get it on trade. it’s going to be just so fantastic. can barely sit still!
We leave in 5 days! I really need to get on that packing tip… I hope everything works out and that we aren’t stranded anywhere! lol.
joie de vivre is mellow
Rose is going to Costa Rica this summer to do a community service project in a village. Maybe she could see if the local school could use a computer or two. And then, we could get some computers from InterConnection and bring them down during Xmas break 2009, and install them.
We could also do a little paddling or see a volcano too :-)

i’ve currently got enough to pay the first £900 payment, which isn’t going to be demanded until july! hooray.
to prepare for costa rica, i also need to kit up, get my jabs and learn some spanish. as well as get physically fitter, because i’m going to be trekking through the rainforest and stuff.
worked out if i keep saving the way i have been, i’ll have £600 ish to spend on new kit. Might finally get a decent sleeping bag!

i think i’m becoming a little over-zealous about this one.
the other day, i took out £100 to save away. this meant that i had no money to buy my lunch yesterday. it seems i’ll make it to costa rica, but on a very empty stomach with ripped up rags for clothes and numerous complaints from national rail for skipping the ticket machine.
So we have our itinerary set. We’re going to visit the Arenal Volcano, Baldi Hot Springs, La Fortuna Waterfall, Monteverde Cloud Forest, Manuel Antonio beach and national reserve, and we’re going to do some zip lining too! We’re spending our last night in San Jose, so maybe we can check out the nightlife there. We just have to make the payment for the hotels/transportation/activities which is costing us about $660 each. Not too bad I suppose. That means the trip for each of us is costing just a bit over $1000.
My fiance told me that we could make the payment by June 15 so hopefully the prices for everything stays the same by that time. SO EXCITING!
I bought my plane ticket as well as my fiance’s plane ticket for his birthday. We are headed to Costa Rica from July 31 until August 7. Next is to work on getting hotels and having activities to do. I feel as though the REAL adventure would be to just get off a bus and wait for people to come up and offer us a cheap room, but I’m more of the structured type. I want to know what I’m doing before I go. I dunno, maybe we’ll wing it in one of the cities we go to and try adventure once.

every so often, usually when i’m looking at my bank balance, i get very excited about costa rica.
i’ve been thinking about my kit list. i work in an outdoorsy sort of shop, so in my head i’ve been compiling a list of all the stuff i want to take with me.
if i finish my savings target early (which hopefully i will do), i may just EXPLODE.
