    New Accordion 19 months ago

Well, ‘2nd-hand’ is closer :) I was given a small accordion about 10 years ago and want to play it so that I can accompany myself (voice) and play with a friend who’s a fiddle player. I already play piano enough to accompany myself and jam some blues.

I’m having trouble coordination left and right hand at the moment, in waltz time.

i just got a beautiful, used accordian. i’ve been wanting to learn for years. i can’t practice often at home, because of roomates/neighbors’s problems with loud noise after dark. i’d love to practice daily and am currently on the lookout for good, free practice spots around the city.

‘Cause I should. Just work gets in the way. I should quit work. To play accordion more. Yeah.

How hard can this be? I also decided to re-learn the piano, and actually went searching for my beginner piano books, but walked right by the accordion… Now I’m wondering about my level of commitment, and why would that be? Little things like getting it out, setting up a chair & stand, putting up with the dogs’ reactions, mild annoyance at the condition of the straps and the one sticky bass button…

due to some sibling rivalry article my parents read, my brother got the piano lessons and I got the accordian lessons. “A big mistake” now my mom tells me.

It's about time to do this already too ... 3 years ago

The accordion’s been sitting in it’s box for a year. Picked it up on eBay maybe two years ago; so I guess it’s been in its box that long. Anyway, Val got me a quick lesson at Meridian Music last year, went in, learned some basics, but I’m still unclear what to do with the bass keys.

I think it’s just a case of anything and everything: quit it and just play the damned thing. It’s sooo intimidating tho!
