I also have never established routines. People say “like brushing your teeth” but they don’t understand what it’s like to have to decide to do that fresh every day… and sometimes fail.
Like Shangri, nothing is the same way the same time, unless it’s externally imposed – class, meetings, etc.
I’m learning an instrument, and not having a practice routine makes it hard. I’m a consultant and in charge of my own time, so that get’s hard too. I need to start some exercise, but without an existing routine it’s hard to schedule it in.
A therapist once told me I should just start by getting up at the same time every day, and that would help get other things in line. It has been near impossible to do. There’s always some reason to get up earlier or later.
Much as I love all my spontenaity, I think my life would be better with some routines.

People always think routines take the fun out of life. I always do much better on a routine. When I know when to do the things that HAVE to be done, I don’t stress out when I’m out doing something for fun. I’m excited about starting another routine and having time to try new things, LIKE SKYDIVING! woo :)

I'm sporadic.
I’m completely, utterly unable to do anything consistently. I suppose I could attribute it to being in college, and my life being completely hectic – but making excuses certainly won’t help the situation!
I have no problem with the unknown – I like going through my days on the fly, rushing around and completing things I need to do, creating a quick checklist in my head sometimes or a detailed half-hour breakdown of my entire day. But, I never, ever do anything the same way, every day. Somedays I wake up 10 minutes before I have to be at class, other times 2 hours before. Everything I do, I fit in at some random point in the day, and I want to organize my life. I think, ultimately, I’ll be more fulfilled and productive with certain routines.
In the morning, I’d love to have a cup of tea, read the news for half an hour, maybe do some stretches and start out my day relaxed. I’d love to go to the library, every day after my last class of the day, for one hour. I’d love to incorporate exercise routinely.
I want to be able to look forward to certain things. I feel that developing a routine will help me to prioritize, give me time to think and reflect, and give me more of a sense of responsibility.
So, to actually start DOING this goal, I’m going to pick one thing. One small thing. And do it, consistently.
