re-decorate my bathroom

I’m in the process of finishing the bathroom—I had it painted a lovely pale turquoise, and have been gradually replacing the decorative items as well as the shower curtain, a few towels, et cetera. I’m going to do a painted border around the mirror and I’m waiting for a print to arrive to hang on the wall…oh, and I need a new rug. After that I’ll call it done.

Next up: the bedroom!

I was running out of space to put my headbands! I have a towel rack that was not being used at all except for holding a small hand towel. I decided to use it to store my headbands! It works perfectly. :) I also keep my brushed hanging on the wall as to provide more counter space. I’ve been doing that since the days in my college dorm!

I have my new shower curtain, liner, and hooks up. My hooks are in the picture there. So cute!

I have put the under-the-sink organizers together and worked on organizing that area tonight. The trays more than doubled my small space. Success, indeed!

I have yet to find a trash bin that I want just yet. Though, I’m thinking that a basic black one from Ikea might just do the trick. I also want a new night light. And I would absolutely love it if I had some light over my shower. When my shower curtain is closed, it gets so dark over the tub.

I’m thinking of painting my bathroom a light pink. Not sure yet what all I want to do to my walls. I thought about getting some floral paper and wrapping it around a few of the tins to bring out the flowers on my shower curtain. I used to do that to my bins on my dorm desk in college. I would take, say an empty Pringles can, and glue wrapping paper around it. Then I would use it to store my colored pencils. I love finding other reasons to use something. :)

I’ve tidied it up…took me 3 hours! I bought a lot of trays and bins in bright colors at Ikea. I’m using them to hold my makeup brushes, hair straightener and curling iron, nail polishes, and makeup. Those have opened up some space on my counter.

I bought a few slide-out trays from Bed, Bath, and Beyond to use for under my sink to create more room. I also got a new toothbrush holder, shower hooks, and black flowery shower curtain. I wanted to get a basic shower curtain to bring out my new hot pink rug and bright tins that I got at Ikea.

I’m hoping to find a new trash bin that I like. I’d also like to move the things on my wall around to create more room for some new things.

There’s not much I can really do to my bathroom (it’s super tiny & I’m pretty sure management won’t allow me to paint), but I want to add some stuff to make it more personal. Besides, the rug we have now is terribly disgusting, a breeding ground for stink.

The colors I have in mind are black, turquoise, and possibly silver/chrome. I’ve already found a matching rug & shower curtain in turquoise at Ikea for really cheap. They even have nice turquoise & black towels. I also want to get a wall shelf or cabinet to hang over the toilet because our bathroom is so messy & unorganized. It’d be nice to have a place to put our towels besides the shower curtain rod since the towel hanger broke. I’ve been looking a few different options from different stores.

I’m really excited to get started. I even can’t wait to put the shelf together myself. I’ll probably be going shopping this weekend to check out my leads, and at least to get the textiles from Ikea since they aren’t available online.

I am going to paint it with this rocking silver paint and I have already purchased some mermaid art to hang and a bunch of cool seashell decor. It’ll be awesome. Silver grey and plum with a touch of blue

Well I’ve done both now… mission accomplished

I’ve not decorated for a long time, My Dad was here with me on holiday and helped me buy all the right stuff

I love mini rollers they are so cool and they zoom through painting better than a brush

I’m quite proud of myself as I did most of the work myself , my Dad helped with the tricky bits
My hair smells of white spirit… oh well (I’m a bit messy lol)
I’ll add some nice pictures and a lamp later…
I might even make a pretty little curtain for the window

Bathroom looks great – pictures, wreath, new towels, bathmats, shower curtain. Feel good about it.

I will create a beautiful space for myself to appreciate my life while I soak in a hot bubbly tub. I will feel so renewed and refereshed every time I enter this special room.
