Okay, I'm geting back on track. I had fallen off the wagon 1 week ago

Okay, so I admit I fell of the wagon. I had a major operation and started eating meat the day before surgery. But now that I’m feeling pretty covered now, I am going back on the proverbial wagon as it were. Okay. Here it goes!

    Untitled 2 weeks ago

i was vegetarian for two years but somehow fell off the track. I don’t eat meat that often, but would find it hard to give up seafood and chicken. Even so, i plan in the near future to become vegetarian again. It’s good for the environment, its healthier, cheaper, and nicer to know that animals weren’t killed just so you can eat them.

about becoming vegan. Thinking about it.

Just Do It: My first 7 days as a vegetarian 3 months ago

“Just do it.” That old Nike slogan reminds me of high school running laps around a track in spandex shorts and white Nike high tops. I played volleyball back then and I was a vegetarian, too. I was in the best shape, physically as well as mentally. The focus and drive were incredible.

Can being a vegetarian again at 26 bring that all back? Who knows, but I’m not a wishful thinker. I do know that it feels great now, after only 7 days. I feel closer to myself somehow and my acne is clearing up some. I find myself less distracted by my life and little more relaxed overall.

The challenges: well, this first week was pretty easy. I didn’t try tofu, yet. I did eat a lot of low fat cheese and dairy products. For protein I ate a lot of legumes, chic peas, black and pinto beans, soy beans. I also ate red kale lightly stir fried, which helped my body make the switch more comfortably. Kale is a major detox, but a gentle one.

Let’s see how next week goes!

I gave up meat for lent! & I do wish it remains like that after lent. Eventually, I’ll go vegan someday.

It took 10 months... 4 months ago

...before I had my first craving for meat.

It happened when the dentist put me on a liquid/soft diet. Suddenly, things like hot dogs and hamburger meat seemed sooo much more appealing than tofu and veggies. Thoughts of chicken noodle soup and clam chowder made me salivate like never before; it was only after reminding myself of the reasons WHY I went vegetarian that I was able to steer away from that department, but I did so begrudgingly.

Weeks later, I’m still craving meat. It doesn’t help that I happen to cook meat really well (HB is carnivore – no veggies for him!) and the sight of something like porkchops (which I never really ate before) ended up with me watching him enjoying every bite with jealous eyes.

It doesn’t help that one of my long-time vegetarian friends just went back to including meat in her diet. It made me seriously reconsider!

    Maybe this list will help…

    Pros of Non-Vegetarian Diet
    1. More foods to choose from
    2. Easier to include protein in my diet
    3. It tastes fantastic!
    4. I stay full longer
    Cons of a Non-Vegetarian Diet
    1. I’ll have to watch my fat content more carefully
    2. Meat makes me lethargic
    3. It sits in the stomach for hours… Fermenting. Gross.
    4. I can’t pig out as much
    Pros of a Vegetarian Diet
    1. I get this “clean” feeling from not eating meat
    2. I’m more energetic
    3. I can pig out on veggies!
    4. Getting 5 servings of veggies a day is a piece of cake
    5. Watching fat content isn’t a problem
    6. Fiber is never a problem
    Cons of a Vegetarian Diet
    1. It can be inconvenient: restaurants and travel into meat-and-potato areas can be a hassle
    2. I have to constantly be aware of what I’m eating
    3. I have to be extra conscientious over protein. It gets annoying.

first few days. 5 months ago

I’ve been a vegetarian before, I just never thought how it could actually be crucial to me, so I started to eat meat again. When I went and revisited the lives of slaughtered animals, I decided to go vegetarian once again. It’s the healthier choice, and I plan to stay this way for years on end.

so i think it’s been a full week of being vegetarian and i’m already miles ahead of my first attempt. ate a falafel sandwich that was pretty bomb. and a few bites of a veggie sub that didnt make me wanna throw up. im getting used to most veggies except one. i cant bring myself to liking onion. oh well

    Untitled 6 months ago

A few days ago i stopped eating meat and decided to try and go vegetarian this time hopefully for good. my first attempt lasted 2 years and ended due to me not being so smart about what i was substituting the meat with. this time however i’m slowly starting to add more food to shit i’m supposed to eat into my diet and hopefully do it the right way. I’m not the biggest fan of veggies so i’m just eating them everyday to get myself used to the taste and hopefully start liking a few. meat is already looking and smelling gross, with the exception of one weakness (bacon, as gross as it is, is the only thing i miss), i just have to remember to eat my veggies and not eat like a 10 year old
