Memorize pi to 50 digits

I got bored during Christmas Break and decided to memorise Pi…I only got to 50 digits and 9 months later I remeber to 30 digits after not practicing for a very very long time.
All I did was just take the digits 5 at a time and write them down such as: 3.14159 I would then repeat it aloud until I remembered it. Then I would write it again with 5 more digits, 3.1415926535 and repeat the whole thing aloud until I remembered. I just kept repeating the process till I got to 50. It really just takes a lot of practice and having a rythmic pattern. By the time I got to 50 digits, I was forgetting digits and having to look at my cheat sheet every once in a while…But I got it memorised! I’m trying to rememorise it now!

It’s not that hard. I got to the first 50 without using any of that pseudonumerology crap, and I’m only 12 years old.

Now I can get on with my life :)

Boot camp for a day an got at least 91 digits for a competition on pi day. It was fun. Unfortunately afterschool when I had to recite them again I think they pulled a number when I said. That is, the 46 in 8979323846.

As for how many I have currently memorized:
3.1415926535 8979323846 2643383279 5028841971 693993974944 5923078164 0628620899 8628034825 3421170(...) dots being the numbers I forgot.

Oh and yes, it is more than the best parlor trick around geeks.

I memorized the first 50 digits in under an hour. It’s for a thing at school, of course, but after a few mistakes where I left out a series of numbers, I have 52 digits memorized so far.

In seventh grade, one of my friends gave me a CD with “The Pi Song” on it, to the tune of American Pie. It tells all the ways it’s used, and the chorus is the digits. I memorized the first 50 digits easily in one night.
