    i used to drive everywhere, every day when i lived in detroit.. the motor city…

    now that i live in chicago i walk to buses, trains and wherever else i want to get to. i walk at least a half hour a day and i feel a lot healthier because of it.

    ditch the car.. and walk or bike your way around your city!

    I’m pretty sure its all the walking that is really working on my calfs – health is great but remember what Fernando said – it’s better to look marvelous than to feel marvelous !

    I live on 35 acres that my father-inn-law has made trails on. For the last year I have been so busy I have had no time to enjoy those trails but, now that the weather has cooled I can take my two dogs for a brisk walk around the property in the morning. Every day I see something amazing or beautiful; an 8 point buck, weird mushrooms, baby bunnies, the fall colors, ect…I can’t believe I’ve lived here all this time and happiness was literally in my own backyard.

    I adopted this goal so that I would do the barest minimum possible on those days when things got a little crazy and time was at a premium. Wouldn’t you know that since adopting the 15 minute minimum rule I have so far exceeded it.

    Most days I walk for much longer sessions, but occassionally things don’t work out as I would like. Today for instance I had a meeting, some unexpected work demands, Eucharist and a Bible Study. (It was the unexpected work demands that threw a wrench in the works) So I have made a promise to myself to walk at least 15 minutes every day.
