I had all these camcorder tapes and the camera was broken. My really extra nice friend lent me his camcorder and I transfered them to VHS, but now I want them on DVD.

This is going to cost me upwards of $2000. Does anyone know of the machine I could buy to do it myslef or should I have someone more professional do it?
My dad converted all the reel-to-reel movies to VHS eons ago, but I’d like to add either sound or captions (or both) and put them on DVD. I got as far as copying to my computer and then had a catastrophic hard drive failure. Ugh. Time to start over.
The vast majority of all the kid movies are now in MPEG-4 format on my hard drive, most notably super hero movies such as “The Planet Defenders” and “Quick Man & Flash Frog”. Also did Christmas’s 1988 and ‘89 (the year of NES).
