we have had our 350Z for over three years and I would like to be able to drive it. But i am intimidated by the manual transmission…

I think everyone should learn to do this at first opportunity.
It’s not so very hard. I learned on a car that my grandmother bought me, and I had basically no help—I wasn’t sure at all what I was supposed to be doing. Even after a few days of terror and near despair, I was good at it a week later.
In teaching others to do it, I think the most helpful thing is to practice with the acceleration (getting to and staying at 1600 RPMS especially) and the clutch (letting it up in no less than three seconds) BEFORE the car is moving!

I think this would be really useful for traveling, because I don’t think you can rent automatic transmission cars in Europe.
