wembleyheads is all sorts of googly-eyed :D

Yes, I'm afraid of heights 2 years ago

but honestly, I thought something that moved soooooo slooooow would not bother me. Especially an enclosed basket!

Damned if it didn’t though, and I was panicking before we even made it a quarter of the way up. I felt completely out of control of my safety :( and death-gripped the side of the basket.

But I didn’t cry or hyperventilate, so at least I’m making progress on my response—I’ve been known to have a total sobbing, shaking meltdown.

It’s $6 for about 6 minutes of terror! and the view of the skyline is blocked by some crappy shorter buildings close to the pier. The wheel is approximately the height of a 14 story building, so it does not afford the spectacular view I imagined. Even if I hadn’t been freaking out, I’d mark this “not worth it.”

    It's open, it's open! 2 years ago

I generally do not like to do touristy things. And Navy Pier is
nothing if not a tourist trap. But ever since I read The Devil in the White City and learned that the original Ferris Wheel was constructed less than a mile from where I live, I’ve had the overwhelming urge to go for a ride!

The views of the skyline and the lake have to be lovely from up there, too, at 140 feet…. Ahhhh.

Both the website and the telephone info line say the Ferris Wheel is still closed for the winter season. But it’s not true! I emailed them to find out when it will re-open… only to be told it’s already open!!

WOOHOOO! Ferris wheel, I’ve got my eye on you! Now, for an evening of nice weather…

I think of great summer things when fall begins 3 years ago

I’ve been here far too long not to have done this. I get too busy in the summer to remember this stuff, then it gets even a little chilly and I’m thinking of all the things I didn’t do….next warm day that collides with available time-the ferris wheel is mine.
