Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

Be a counselor at a summer camp

I lived at a summer camp the summer that I was 9. My mom was the camp nurse, and I’d get to go for free… so I went for every session they had. I made friends with the counselors, I ate way too much camp food and went on way too many horseback rides, but it was the most amazing summer of my life. Camp Osito Rancho. I just sent an email to the person who hires their camp counselors, and I’m trying to get a spot there this summer, at least for a month. I’ve been a counselor three years in a row at a week long spring break girl scout camp, and another week at a YMCA camp, so I hope I can get this one! I’ll keep updated. 4 years ago

Summer camp as a counselor is the Good the Bad the Awesome and the Terrible all rolled into one. It’s a good life experience and I recommend it. 7 years ago

MariaSoledadSummer Camp 2006

One of the toughest experiences of my life. Had some of the naughtiest girls imaginable but got through 7 weeks with them ans ended up making some really great friends through it all. I learnt that it’s when you’re going through the toughest times that you learn the most and the friends I made during this time will be friends forever! 7 years ago

I did it last summer, like I said I was going to. It was awesome. I’m doing it again this year. 8 years ago

psycheIt's going to happen.

I wrote an email to the guy who directed the summer camp I attended last year. He remembered me and said it’d be great if I came as a counselor! So, that’s what I’m doing this summer, July 24-30, in Idaho! Woohoo! Silverwood! Roller coasters! Bees! Water skiing! Recycled food! Oh yeah! I’ll remove this goal after it actually happens. 9 years ago

psycheSummer Camp

I attended summer camp once in my life, and it was fun. I’d like to go and be a counselor myself someday. That is all. 9 years ago
