i drew in class today. 16 months ago

this was my favorite of the two studies i did, plus a bunch of random doodles that i’d rather not post.

doodler at heart. 16 months ago

i carry my sketchbook with me now, and began drawing in it. but instead of traditional figure drawings (what this was intended for), i just started doodling again. i suppose it’s better than nothing.

    still neglected. 17 months ago

my sketchbook is on the floor, under some stuff.

i think i will leave it in my bag from now on.

    neglected. 17 months ago

i drew in it everyday for about a week and then it remained untouched for the rest of may. i picked it up again today and my figures are still a bit stiff. i keep forgetting that this book should be with me at all times, so i won’t have to doodle on my notes. (though it makes my notes look tons more interesting.)

    level 2. :) 18 months ago

my cousin gave me one of her used (but blank) sketchbooks for me to practice in. soon after i labeled it “drawings, pt. 1,” we had an impromptu drawing session where she allowed me to draw her. i did one study of her while she sat and she said it came out pretty well. after that we decided that i should go back to the basics and i did a bunch of gesture drawings.

i’m excited to take my sketchbook out into the world and draw!

i’m taking an illustration class this term so it’s crucial that i begin to draw again. i haven’t taken a figure drawing course in over a year; my last was during my 2nd term. (i’m 7th term now.) so i think i’m a bit rusty.

i already have a sketchbook that’s for everything else. this one is strictly for figure drawing!

it's no use 21 months ago

i bought a small one i could carry around everywhere and it’s no damn use. maybe the fact that it’s an actual sketchbook drives me away. but somehow i end up drawing stuff on binder paper or on the back of brochures. everything i draw in my sketchbook looks very amateur. maybe i was destined to draw on homework assignments.

it just sits there! 21 months ago

i have maybe 5 different sketchbooks for different themes/things i use to draw and i haven’t picked them up in a couple of weeks. they just sit on the floor collecting dust. who knows what i could teach myself? chances of getting better are just slipping away with time. i want to get better at drawing small faces quickly and cleaning up my shading.

i guess i just get too scared that if i do something fugly i’ll ruin the entire book. i’ll start tonight!
