I’m a cheezball and got their little bookcrossing bags. I’d already been releasing books into the wild on my own, but what fun to find an organization dedicated to it!
How I did it: Once I'd decided on what book to release I just had to remember to take it out with me and leave it at the pre-determined destination that I'd put on the BookCrossing website for others to find. For me, I left it at Manchester Piccadilly train station in England and so far haven't heard back from anyone who's picked it up, yet I know it has been picked up. I hope the train station staff didn't find it and put it in lost property or throw it away- you never know!!
Lessons & tips: Put it in a good place. I don't think I'll be putting it in a train station again. I'll put it in a busier place...

I’m going to release two books soon! The first one is Lady in Waiting and the other is called In Her Fathers Footsteps. Both were very good and easy reads,so I hope someone picks them up. I don’t remember my ID on the bookcrossing site but when I check it I will write a post so you can friend me if u like!

After work today, I decided to check out another book for the weekend at the library, and when I walked into the back entrance, I saw a sign that pointed to the attic that read Friends of Library Book Sale! So, when curiosity killed the cat, I jotted up the stairs to this perfectly beautiful, dusty, quiet, deserted place, shelves packed with old book sleeves and ratty covers. I scoured the racks and found many fantastic finds, but bought only one. The prices were exceedingly cheap for some classics, and I thought this would be the perfect place to find a homeless book, looking for a (temporary!) owner!
alexw07 is going to a record sale today!
I don’t really want to do this anymore. None of the books people are dropping off sound interesting to me. Plus they aren’t really close to where I live.

it was really fun! i left the book on a bench in a lovely spot of the garden…then i went away, had a nice walk + sunbath on the grass and…before going home i went to check the book: it was gone!
i wonder who picked it up and whether they’re going to release it again…i hope so!

I was waiting outside of an art museum in dc and i found a bookcrossing book. It was such a surprise.
I am going to start with releasing one on wednesday december 17th. I’ve chosen to release ‘Heavier Than Heaven’ by Charles R. Cross- a biography on Kurt Cobain.
My profile is papershreds on the bookcrossing website, feel free to add me as a friend!
but I did what I wanted in the spirit of this goal. I was at the library dropping off several other magazines/books for the book sale. A guy in the parking lot was having difficulty starting his car. He asked me for tools and I replied that if I had been on my bike I would have had something and that turned into a quick motorcycle conversation. Anyway, I noticed that one of the books I was about to donate was by Sonny Barger (former head of the Hell’s Angels). I gave it to this stranded biker asking him to keep passing it along when he was done. It felt good.

I remember looking at the site and wondering how exactly you “release” a book into the wild. Do you set it free in the wilderness amongst books of all types? Fiction, adventure, biography? Or perhaps with friends, so it can slowly creep it’s way into a woman’s purse while she leaves her doctor’s office?
Whilst I decide where to free my book, I’m going to have to decide what book I want to say farewell to, and let it be…
Now would be a good time for a library book sale!
One of my books made someone so happy, he decided to register right away and was really ecstatic!
