Does anyone know of any good silks classes in the Dallas-Fort Worth area? Preferably Fort Worth? I’ve never done anything like this before, but I was intrigued by the beauty of tissu. I would love to at least give this a try!

I am currently taking classes in aerial hoop from a circus school, and I have a set of silks rigged in my garage to practice that skill at home. I need to work on the basics before I spend money on the classes anyway.
My wife and I are moving to Atlanta in May and She teaches aerial silks and does performances. If you are interested in learning how to perform aerial silks please Email me (Jeff) at climber.34@hotmail.com
Although I haven’t been to the gym to work on this one in a month or so… :( I am making lots of progress. I have learned a few tricks that I need to work on a little bit more but every time I do them I get a little better. I am figuring out how to put them together so that I might be able to make a routine out of them. It won’t be very long right now but its getting longer. Yay! I am so happy that I have found some place learn and people to work with!
After about 18 months, I am feeling my climbing strength and endurance is getting really good, I have a decent bag of tricks, and I have a lot more nerve than I used to. Good class last week… we focused on stringing tricks together and adding choreographic expressive elements instead of just trick-trick-trick.. next step is to create a 3 minute or so routine to music and video-tape it. I will consider this goal accomplished when I first perform an aerial routine in public.
Hello my name is Whitney Ellis, I’m 18 years old, I am a senior at Roscommon High School. Here at my high school the seniors are required to complete a class called “Senior Project” to receive there diplomas.
I chose Aerial Silks as the topic of my senior project because having seen it performed in movies, and in still photos, it has always intrigued me, and peaked my interest/curiosity, although I do not intend on pursing the performance of aerial silks as a carrier, I will have gained a new talent and hobby, but this experience would also be beneficial as a workout, helping not only with upper body strength, but with all over toning as well. I also believe that learning and continuing the use and technique of aerial silks will help me to open my mind to more creative activates, as well as help me overcome a fear of performing in front of others. Also for my final presintation i will be performing in front of a panel of judges and not only incorporate sold speaking skills, but also demonstrate my passion for this topic
The main reason I’m am writing this is because I was wondering if thers anyone that can help me find sources, the history behind this art? I still havent found anyone that can explane the different names of movies, my mentor has been working with aerial silks for over two years but she is still learning but she is a great teacher. Please anyone! You wouldn’t have to do much, all I would need is for you to answer some interview questions and if you could send me some of the history behind aerial silks like how it all began? Were it originated from? Do you know any books that could assist me? I would need to know the title and author of the books (if you know of any) so I can order them from my local library. Thank you for taking the time to read this and I hope to hear back from ANYONE real soon.
The best way to get in touch with me is by email which is

I have contacted a local group that has open gyms! They have agreed to let me come but I need to find out when they are and how to make it work in my schedule! I’m so excited!
I live in the Atlanta area, too, so let me know if you find something!!! :)
I am really wanting to do this. I have for quite awhile. Now that my strength is starting to pick up, I’m looking for someone who can teach me (in the atlanta area.)
