I Think I've been pretty good about this 2 years ago

I’m taking this off. My fish are doing much better and I’m scrubbing all the decorative features now everytime I clean.

I’m hoping that my weekly reminders keep up. We’ll see otherwise I’ll put this back on my list as one of those perm. things.

scrubbed the decorations 2 years ago

I found out where a lot of the scummy gunk in my tank was hiding. I have a feature in there that is hollow inside. I usually pick it up and clean the rocks under it but didnt realize there was a ton of crap hiding INSIDE of it. I took it out today and scrubbed it. My tank looks SO much better today then it has in months.

I hope my fish start getting a bit more healthy now.

    water changed 2 years ago

but I’m still haveing problems with my fish. I’ve put more treatment tabs in the water but my fish still seem to be developing sores. I still cant say exactly what may be causing it but it is extraordinarily frustrating. sigh. I think i need to take everything out of my tank and wash it. rocks features and all. I hate that. :(

    Water Cleared 2 years ago

SO I scrubbed my tank and changed almost all of the water and it seems its maintaining its water clarity. I changed it on Friday and it is still looking good. I am going to do this on friday every week. Or at least thats the goal.

I’m even feeling like I would feel comfortable adding a new (sucker) fish with the way the water seems to be maintaining. I guess thats what i get for having my husband clean it a couple times. Didn’t go far enough with it.:(

I do however really believe that my filter is a bit sub-par. I’m going to look into that soon too.

SO I dont have Discus . 2 years ago

BUT my fish deserve clean water too. I am normally good about this but it usually takes me a week and a half. I’ve got some sort of contaminate thats mucking up my water. That and since my sucker fish died things seem to get dirty quicker. I was hesitant about replacing him because I thought I was going to have a big die off. Perhaps I should just go get a new one and see if that helps stablize things a bit. :( dont know.

cool fish deserve clean water 4 years ago

Discus are cool fish. They used to be very difficult to maintain. The newer hybrids, many coming from places like Malaysia and Singapore (they’re origonally from the Amazon basin) are somewhat hardier.

But, they still thrive on warm (mine love 84%) clean water. That means changing 25-40% of the water every week. I’m pretty good about it, but can get better. They’ll be glad.
