I have found many great sources of information on this topic. First of all what is “plastic” shamanism, basically a plastic shaman is someone who is accused of not being authentic, a fake
One indicator of this, “real” shamans, do not call themsselves shamans or medicine men, they are known by another name reserved for their position within the community or tribe. One example that I can think of when relating to this observation, is that my friend, Tiffany, joined the Peace Corps many years ago and travelled to Guinea, Africa and her villages spiritual advisor/healer was called, Emom (not entirely sure of the spelling though).
I have a lot of thoughts brewing about this and will be back later to fill in the blanks and give y’all some links so that you can check it out for yourself…

I have had many dreams of a tiger and this tiger in each dream is leading me in some way, usually to different places and things, people, and animals, or protecting me etc. I have also had a dream of intense bright light and then experienced the impact that dream had on my life afterward. I will write more about specific dreams later, but I digress. These particular occurences are in alignment with some people’s experience of the shaministic spiritual tradition. I have read numerous resources regarding totem animal, visited a shaman, found scholarly articles about the subject by Geo Trevarthen, and shaman schools, schizophrenia and the shaman sickness, onset characteristics, anthropological ethnographies of shamans in various cultures around the world. I still have more to read that is for sure. Another step in the path is to find a shaman to study with in hopes that I will gain a greater understanding of the role of this tradition in the world.
Here are some links to this for y’all to
