Dotchi Anni is finding my happy place.
When I first set this goal, I was nearing 250 pounds. I’ve changed my eating habits, walk more instead of drive and changed my attitude towards life altogether. I am now at 221. Go me! Go me!
I want to lose about 25 pounds to be under 180. I begin tomorrow morning at dawn and the goal is to be comfortably under 180 by March 1.
This should be brief, as the problem is really one of math.
For those of you who haven’t stumbled upon the Hacker’s Diet, yet, I suggest googling for it. The essence of the diet is threefold:
1) The body, for the purposes of weight equilibrium, can be seen as a rubber bag. Too many calories in, the bag inflates; too few and the bag contracts. So, in order to lose weight, you need to be taking in fewer calories than your body needs to maintain equilibrium
2) Diet is key and calories should be counted. Small things matter greatly in the Hacker Diet; not eating that Subway cookie with lunch means 220 calories not in your gut. Add up the small things over time and you can see big differences
3) Exercise, while important, is secondary. Forty minutes of cardio is ~200 calories burned; that’s less than the one cookie previously mentioned. You should exercise to tone up, develop muscle mass, and feel better, not lose weight.
That’s what I know, so I’m sticking to it. More on diet, counting calories, and beer later.
