How come none of the scone recipes mention that the butter needs to be solid cold before you cut it in with the flour? I mean, is this something we [the newbies] should be aware of?? It’s bad enough that any little screw up can result in disaster, but it pisses me off that these simple [and crucial] details are not mentioned in any of the recipes. Yes, I can find the tips on “how to,” but that’s an extra step that shouldn’t be necessary.

have to wait until October. One of my relatives, who will be visiting that month, LOVES cranberry scones. So, as a welcome gift, I thought these babies would be perfect. :) Oh my, did I forget to mention cranberry orange butter??? Mhhmm. [evil grin]
P.S. Just for ma Shellster…eyebrow wiggle

I found a recipe in a magazine, and after tasting the scones a friend of mine made, I want to try, too! So I’m gonna give it a try. Maybe for the Easter Brunch?

and adore making them. Here are some I made. They’re best with clotted cream (Double Devon Cream pictured here) and Sainsbury’s strawberry preserve :-) Mmmm cream tea!
I like pumpkin walnut scones for this time of year too.

but am now inspired to make berry-filled scones for the first day of school. The only question is whether to bake them the day before and bring them to share with my fellow teachers – or to unwind after the school day by baking! (Of course, I could bring in the leftovers the next day…any day is a good day for scones!)
